Well thanks for that. Could well be the one. Weird, I thought it was in colour and from later. Weirder is that zedz gets his headless torso and perhaps weirdest is that my legless pal turns out (according to Imdb) to be John Gilmore from Sun Ra's outfit!Thomas Dukenfield wrote:It's House of the Damned, but it was released in 1963 and it's in black and white, unless there are two movies about a little guy wearing a fez hiding in a house. First I've heard of it (if it's the same John Gilmore -- IMDb is prone to confusing people with the same names). Gilmore was a giant on tenor sax, influencing Coltrane. Was loyal to Sun Ra and the Arkestras for 4 decades. They used to put on great shows.

Yes that's all fine and dandy but could he retract his legs into his torso and did he wear a fez.Lemmy Caution wrote:First I've heard of it (if it's the same John Gilmore -- IMDb is prone to confusing people with the same names). Blowing in Chicago sure is a great album.

Re: Identify This Movie
Actually the full Arkestra frequently wore fezzes.
Though Sun Ra often had more elaborate headgear.
So I indeed have seen John Gilmore in a fez.
Everybody in the band was a multi-instrumentalist and would double on other reeds and often unusual percussion instruments.
Not sure how that relates to leg-retraction capabilities though.
I think they have stunt-jazz musicians for that ...

It was definitely a different John Gilmore than the underappreciated musician. Gilmore and the torso woman, Frieda Pushnik, had both worked in Barnum circus freakshows.

The more I think about it it was obvious that it couldn't have been the same bloke coz when he blew the sax he'd fall over if he didn't have any legs.

I think the Arkestra's John Gilmore as the baddy in a horror movie even beats out a headless torso in a fez. Why don't these films exist?

Re: Identify This Movie
My boss was telling me about a movie he saw somewhere around the 60's or 70's. He thinks it was a french film, and involved a guy having an affair with a dentist's wife, only to go to the dentist at the end of the film to get a tooth pulled. The dentist, knowing of the affair, pulls more teeth than are required, which supposedly will cause the rest of his teeth to slowly fall out.
Anyone know what this is?

No idea if other films did it too but that happens in the Dentist, a 90s cable staple starring Corbin Bernsen as the titular figure

Nah, it was definitely foreign, and most likely French. Reading a description of your link, it looks like The Dentist, appropriately enough, focuses on the dentist. The movie my boss saw was mostly focused on the man having the affair; it wasn't until the end of the film that he went to the dentist.

Dentist plus wife plus wife's other, sounds Raoul Walsh's Strawberry Blonde, but it's period and it's not about a real adultery.

Re: Identify This Movie
Hey everyone. For a while now, I've been thinking about two interesting color TV shows/movies that I saw parts of roughly 30 years ago; the problem is that I don't remember what the titles were, or even much about them at this point. Here is what I do recall:
- The first was a network TV broadcast of a '60's/'70's sci-fi film about a man (or group of people) who was somehow thrust into a parallel universe, where he/they ended up in a fascist/totalitarian England?! which was run by a government who employed soldiers dressed in tan or gray uniforms. The only real scene I remember from this film was very early on, in which a soldier fired a machine gun into a wooden door & reduced it to splinters. Note this was not Dr. Who: Inferno , which I saw years later. This is also not Star Trek. Note that this may have been several episodes of a TV show that were edited together to make a film, it may have been a failed pilot of a TV show, or it may have been a theatrical feature film.
- The second was an early '80's fantasy TV show/made-for-TV movie (or, maybe even a TV broadcast of a film) about a group of heroes fighting a group of lizard-like people. The only scene I remember from this show/film was a sequence when the heroes were escaping from the lizard people by running across a lake/river, and they fired an arrow/crossbow into one of the lizard people. The lizard creature then fell into the water, and the water started hissing/steaming - presumably because the creature's blood had a strange reaction to the water.
Note this was not V, which was a sci-fi mini-series (and later series) about a group of alien lizards that came to Earth to take over.
Any info. about the above movies/TV shows will be much appreciated - Thanks!

This is The Archer: Fugitive From the Empire, which is a 1981 Made-for-TV film. It was also released on VHS in the US but is very hard to find.LavaLamp wrote:

Re: Identify This Movie
Does anyone recognize this? It's a film about an amnesiac and a central scene takes place in an elevator where a match being struck acts as a trigger to bring back the guy's memories. It's none of the usual suspects like Mirage or Mister Buddwing, but it's probably from the 1960s. Thank you.

Re: Identify This Movie
Hi!
Im looking for the name of this movie Ive seen years ago.
It was black&white, it was ambiented in some sort of prehistoric age(?) or tribal world, I think there were no dinosaurs, but the people (or most of them) didnt speak a language but would make moars and sounds alike.
Cant remember the plot very well, but the main chars were a couple: the girl was kidnapped by some masked caveman/apelike people (the mask would have prominent teeth) leaded by some other masked (but less ape and more human) evil man. The guy offcourse goes out to search his fiancee and finally rescues her. I believe there was a scene were the girl gets tied in a tree and leaved alone (to be eaten by wild animals maybe?), then some misterious man appears behind her, wave his weapon and surprisingly to the girl, he releases her.
All the people would wear loinclothes and have rudimentary weapons, the bad guys would wear masks. The girl offcourse was very pretty, she was brunette and woud wear a really sexy outfit.
Ring any bells? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like Hammer's Creatures the World Forgot (1971), although it wasn't originally in black and white (maybe it was broadcast in B & W). Hammer produced 3 caveman movies, and this is the one without dinosaurs, and I vaguely recall the details you mentioned.Leandrusi wrote:Hi! Im looking for the name of this movie Ive seen years ago.

Re: Identify This Movie
Thanks for replying, but its not that one! nor any of the other 3 Hammer cavemen productions. They are all in colour and seem too high budget.Thomas Dukenfield wrote:Sounds like Hammer's Creatures the World Forgot (1971), although it wasn't originally in black and white (maybe it was broadcast in B & W). The movie Im looking for was definitely black&white and older, "Creatures the world forgot" also has no dialogue and has also a pretty brunette starring and masked bad guys, but the masks are too big.
Also, I think the brunette was the only girl on the entire movie, and there were not many actors involved, the whole plot centered only in the girl and the man looking for her instead of being about a whole tribe.
What movie could it be?

VALLEY OF THE DRAGONS, maybe? I caught some of this on TCM yesterday and it sounds somewhat similar to what you're describing.

Tx for answering! Its not "Valley of the dragons" There are many old movies about modern men travelling to losts prehistoric lands. In the movie im looking for there were no modern men.Matt wrote:VALLEY OF THE DRAGONS, maybe? I caught some of this on TCM yesterday and it sounds somewhat similar to what you're describing.
Im remembering something else: I think the unknown men who cuts the ropes of the girl later helps her male partner to defeat the masked bad guys by giving him some sort of weapon I cant remember, maybe fire(?) (Its not the movie "Quest for fire" though!)

Re: Identify This Movie
Years back I saw this court film which had a woman cut off her husband's head and carry with it on an airplane. She explained that as being because of Fantasia.
