Let's keep our fingers crossed for a musical cornucopia of Blank documentaries in physical form sometime soon! An Eclipse set would be dandy, but a few BluRays in a box could accommodate more than a dozen of these wonders. Here's hoping Criterion go the full Etaix.

If Dry Wood is there, Hot Pepper shouldn't be far behind. It looks like they've got some big Blank plans in store.

I did a bit of research since this appears to be nowhere listed as a Blank film and found this interview. The short of it is that this is a deleted scene from The Blues Accordin' to Lightin' Hopkins.

How did you find those, jwd?

These Les Blank films are the perfect summer films. I want to watch them all!

Just a little digging on Hulu's website (similar to the phantom pages on Criterion's website). Not counting all the Frampton shorts, there are about 35 of these so far, about half of which are unreleased before on physical media.

Care to divulge some more?

Also: I've been wanting to check out early Dreyer forever now, and happy to see one of those pre-Joan works on there.

I didn't see a real rush to post them, since they are all going to be up by the end of the summer. It was more an exercise in curiosity, fuelled by work ennui and driven partially by the hope certain films would show up. For example, I was hoping to find some more Ichikawa and alas...nothing more.

However this is what I have found so far: In addition to Sucksdorff's My Home is Copacabana, which was up for about a week and then taken down (and looks to be coming back up this weekend) there are: both the Cronenbergs, lots of Harold Lloyd plus a bunch of Japanese films including two more by Gosho and another each by Ozu, Shinoda, Toyoda, Gosha, Kinoshita and Obayashi.

It's a film that Home Vision released a decade ago. It's more of an interesting film than an actual great one, but it's nice to know it isn't in out-of-print purgatory anymore.

Thanks. Even though I knew it wouldn't be, I was kinda hoping that it was Hitokiri (Tenchu!)

I hope Yum, Yum, Yum and Marc and Ann also join those Blank titles. Blank's camera loves Savoy.

My apologies if this has been addressed -- I couldn't find it -- but has anyone got a list of which Criterion DVD/Blu releases are not available on Hulu? I was thinking I could maybe use this to prioritize my wants in the next 50% off sale...

That changes too often to make a list. You can use the Hulu list on the Criterion site to check what you'd like to see

Really? They've seemed very stable to me. Just use the Criterion.com/hulu page and work backwards from there--if they're not on it, then they're not streaming. Generally speaking, if Janus doesn't have the rights, it probably won't be available.

Does anyone know where to find (and identify) the music briefly played at the end of Heat Wave? It is the part where they show stills of the main characters in the film while music that reminded me of the end credits music in Blade Runner plays. It's brief as it is soon cut for standard credits.

Wow, Criterion now has Tracked and Heat Wave? They really need to start releasing these Gosha films on disc. It's starting to get frustrating seeing them build their collection of Gosha films and not releasing any of them.

Wow! I wanted to see both Fårö films for the 70s list, but didn't think that I had a shot in hell at finding either of them.

Just in case you didn't think there was enough Kinoshita on Criterion's Hulu....

They added Woman (1948)
