Anyone have a problem downloading ANDREI RUBALEV? A friend of mine has been trying randomly for several months and the loading signal just runs forever in an endless loop. This is the only title he's ever had a problem with outside of intermittent service/weather related situations. And he watches around 6 to 8 Criterion/Hulu titles a week.

More additions to Hulu:

One Way Ticket to Love (Shinoda, 1960)
Sincere Heart (Kobayashi, 1953)
Oh, My Son! (Kinoshita, 1979)
Morning for the Osone Family (Kinoshita, 1946)
Love New and Old (Shinoda, 1961)

They also added films already in the Collection:

Shock Corridor (Fuller, 1964)
The Naked Kiss (Fuller, 1964)
The Naked City (Dassin, 1948)

This is Jules Dassin's The Naked City. It's incorrectly listed on Hulu. Hellinger is actually pic's narrator.

More importantly, Hellinger is the producer.

For those, such as I, that were not aware, Hulu is now available on Apple TV.

FINALLY.

This is huge news. For months I've been on the verge of buying yet another box just to have access to Hulu. I don't suppose there's any hope that Amazon streaming will ever work on Apple TV?

So my subscription is running out on the 29th and I've already seen all the Eclipse and Criterion titles so now I am at an impasse; Bulldog Drummond or Zatoichi? I was going to clear the Drummond's because they are so short but this first one is just dragging on and on and I don't know if I'm going to finish the series. I'm not a big samurai guy but I've got an open mind I enjoyed the Hanzo the Razor series. What is the best Zatoichi film, what would be like the top five?

The Zatoichi films are tons of fun. Maybe if you revealed which was your favorite Hanzo making a five for you would be easier, but as is any of the Misumi helmed films are pretty excellent.

I liked them in the order they came out, first one I really enjoyed, second one I thought was pretty good, third one fell a little flat at the end.

As for the Samurai films I've enjoyed, Sword of Doom is my favorite, followed by Sanjuro and Seven Samurai.

I haven't actually been to the Criterion Hulu site in a while, so this may not be a new change, but I can't be the only one who finds the redesign to be much much much worse.

I signed up a month ago and used the list mode to search for Criterion movies by director. I can't find this option anymore with their new layout. Does anyone know if this can be accessed?

You can use advanced search, and search for names.

I just signed up for plus today, to finally catch up on all those Shinoda films, and found the new website a complete headache. Didn't Netflix opt for a similar navigation scheme right around the time that they started being crap?

Yes, I believe so. That page is almost completely unusable, and it gets more difficult when you're looking for someone like Shinoda's films because it's difficult to guess what title they're under even if you know what's there. Not being able to navigate by even director has kept me from the site for the time being.

But this search function is crap. Search Shinoda and you get a mixture of films he directed, some other films with no apparent connection, and special features with him talking about other directors films.
Plus, it doesn't even consistently pull up a director's films. Search "olmi", and Il posto appears, but not I fidanzati.

I echo your sentiment completely, FerdinandGriffon. I have plenty of films I'm interested in elsewhere that don't require spending time compensating for a broken system. I'm sure things will be adjusted eventually... I'm just hoping for sooner rather than later.

It's difficult to find anything on the crappy new Hulu+, but it looks like some new titles are being added today:

Naruse - Floating Clouds
Juraj Herz - The Cremator

and

David Lynch - Dumbland (all episodes)

The bottom of the Criterion section in browse has the recently added, which also includes The Tin Drum and Zorn's Lemma (!?!).

Cool that they added Zorns Lemma (no apostrophe btw). The website searching is still very frustrating.

Wow, I thought maybe you guys were exaggerating, but even using the advanced search, I still get "VIP Access MTV VMA's: Las Vegas" when I search for Shinoda.

If you put Criterion in as the network it should help thin out the herd a bit.
