I just went on the Mondo Vision website and under Future Releases The Devil, The Third Part Of The Night, and Boris Godunov all say Coming 2013! next to them. I don't remember there being any dates next to them before.

Actually, it is - sort of. It's a letterboxed NTSC downconvert of the version that I rejected, with the day-for-night shots at the start.

Don't take it as representative of what the final Disc version will look like. It's far removed in various technical ways.

Mondo Vision updated the Future Releases section of the label site. Possession now says coming soon while The Silver Globe and The Blue Note changed from 2012 planned release to in production. I was really hoping all three of these films would surface this year on disc though had doubts following the Possession delay. The Devil, The Third Part of the Night and Boris Godunov changed from 2013 planned release to pre-production.

Has anyone obtained the Finders Keepers releases of The Third Part of the Night soundtrack or the Possession soundtrack in recent time? I've been waiting for vinyl copies to appear for both soundtracks in NYC record stores though haven't come across them yet.

Yes, but Possession is the focus. A LOT of work is being done on it, and it's being done at the moment.

Thanks to this forum I became fully aware of Mondo Vision, a label I had heard of previously but never really looked into what they did in detail. After confirming through an e-mail exchange with Mondo that the currently published DVDs will not be coming out as BDs any time soon, I took the plunge and bought all 4 in their limited editions while they are still cheap - and boy, am I glad I did.

I knew most of Zulawski's movies, but these editions are just gorgeous. The care that went into the packaging, the great booklets, the extras on the DVD are all magnificent. And I can't praise David Mackenzie highly enough, the A/V quality of these DVDs ranks among the finest I own (and I own many) and it is obvious how much work has gone into them.

If you are only remotely interested in Zulawski don't wait and pick these up, you won't regret. And the packaging and shipping job Toufaan does is first rate, as is their customer service.

Can't wait to get Possession and especially the Silver Globe, one of the few Zulawski's I haven't seen.

You tell them, fat lady! ;) Seriously though, what he said. The quality package in the end (A/V, extras, booklets, etc.) is such that it keeps many of us from bolting at Mondo's constant delays/push on release dates. They're the complete opposite of Olive's approach if you think about it.

Wondering if they're running low on the Limited Edition of La femme publique. Want to buy Szamanka more but the other was the first released and is more known. Can't get both now. Possession will be gone quickly!

British distributors Second Sight Films have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray Polish director Andrzej Zulawski's cult film Possession (1981), starring Isabelle Adjani, Sam Neill, Heinz Bennent, and Margit Carstensen. The release will feature a new director-approved restoration and is expected to arrive on the market in 2013.

Somebody at Mondo Vision better get their skates on...

Mondo are yet to absolutely confirm that they will be releasing it in bluray - so it's still good news that one way or another we will be getting a bluray.

Indeed, but the question (in my mind) would be whether Mondo Vision have shelled out for Blu-ray licensing to do a release in the States, especially bearing in mind that once they go Blu, there's really no way to continue new Zulawski releases on DVD only. The only solution would be to continue the series on Blu-ray, (hopefully, keeping the Premium Edition packaging) and either bundle the DVD, or produce cheaper, no-frills DVD-only editions to accompany the Premium Editions.

Having had a front-row seat at the anguished internal wrestling that Second Run had to go through before (reluctantly) deciding not to go down the Blu route, I have every sympathy.

Their argument was precisely the same as the one you suggest: they could probably have afforded one or two Blu-ray titles, but the profit margins would be much less (no joke if you're a shoestring label, and I doubt Mondo Vision is rolling in cash), and a likely upshot would be to depress the sales of their DVD-only titles, as people would over-optimistically wait for them to put them out on Blu, even if that was never part of their plan. So they'd get a modicum of plaudits for entering the Blu-ray market, but would also get financially clobbered in the medium to long term.

Possession would sell well on BD, of course - but, realistically, would The Blue Note?
