Hey all,

In anticipation of our release of Nicholas Ray's final film WE CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN as well as Susan Ray's companion documentary DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH, we decided to share the recently completed artwork with you guys.

We're still hammering out what will be included in the release, but know that it will be chock-full of Nicholas Ray goodies.

Stay tuned for more info!

But expecting a Blu-ray release of a new restoration is not too much.

Revisited "Dark Days" yesterday, and this is a top notch DVD that everyone should have. Gladly, the old DVD's special features, while the new featurettes are great. It's pretty amazing that Marc Singer made this without prior movie-making knowledge at all and make something extraordinary by instinct. Almost a shame that he hasn't been in filmmaking since then, but was very happy to see him in the newly produced featurettes.

God I love being a Circle of Trust member: Oscilloscope just sent out "care packages" to tide us over between releases which included amongst actual medicinal aids the Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition of Wuthering Heights (!) and Band Aids "for Nelly look-a-like contests"

Anyone got a suggestion as from where I could purchase Oscilloscope's releases and get them packaged properly? It seems that there aren't any US stores who'll put any care into their packaging anymore: Amazon, DD, DVD Pacific, Planet Axel, ImportCDs, Moviemars all won't use cardboard packaging. It's so frustrating to keep receiving things wrecked.

Have you tried emailing Osciloscope directly? Dunno if they can mail to the UK, but they do ship out their direct titles in specially-designed cardboard mailers that have never failed to deliver a title in perfect condition

In what is probably related news, Oscilloscope president and co-founder David Fenkel resigned yesterday, and Dan Berger and David Laub are taking over acquisition, distribution, and marketing. Both of yesterday's articles linked above contain quotes from MCA.
Adam Yauch wrote:“This promotion makes a lot of sense. Dan Berger and David Laub have expanded their roles throughout the company over the years and have proven to be integral to our continued growth and success. The guys know their shit, and they have the utmost respect for filmmakers, which is at the core of O-Scope's values. Fenkel has been a great collaborator and friend. We will all miss him in his previous role, but I'm glad he will remain a part of O-Scope and I know we're both looking forward to seeing Dan and Laub kick some ass, nice-young-jewish-boy style.”

It actually may not have been related: it's my understanding that David Fenkel has decided to put off his resignation and act as consultant for Berger and Laub. Which leads me to believe that his death may have been sudden and unexpected.

Well the above quote from Yauch leads me to believe it was somewhat sudden too, although he wasn't well enough to attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction a couple of months ago. Both of those articles from yesterday already indicated that Fenkel would be acting as a consultant though.

Ah! I didn't realize they'd picked that up. Oh MCA, what a beautiful world you created for yourself. Rest in peace.

Must've been a surprise. According to a NYTimes reporter that talked with Yauch's mother, his condition really deteriorated in the past two weeks (it "seemed to happen overnight.") Really believed he was going to pull through, it's weird to see "Adam Yauch 1964 - 2012" on so many headlines.

Sweet. And for $99, it's kind of a steal.

Uh, big mistake LA Times. "28 Hotel Rooms" is a narrative film that has nothing to do with "The Shining." "Room 237" is a documentary about "The Shining," but it was picked up by IFC, not Oscilloscope.

Maybe you're reading it wrong.

DVDBeaver on "Kevin", Blu-ray.com on "Kevin"

So is this the first region locked Oscilloscope release?
