Any word on the forthcoming Cinema Paradiso BR? I don't have high hopes, but as long as it has the theatrical cut and it looks good, I'll probably get it...

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm reluctant of getting rid of the very good Miramax/Buena Vista Collector's edition and Lionsgate track record isn't inspiring confidence in these new BD. I still don't understand why Lionsgate has been treating all their acquisitions as bulk merchandise instead of actually doing something good. Their release history so far also doesn't make me believe that we will be seeing a Malena uncut version in region 1 anytime soon.

I wonder who has the UK rights to those films? LionsGate or Optimum? For some reason, LionsGate has UK rights to Kevin Smith films (except Dogma), Scream trilogy and some other titles. Studio Canal seems to have rights to Kill Bill films. It's confusing... Why didn't LionsGate want the rights to other Tarantino films in UK when they already have Reservoir Dogs?

Cover art and Special Features for Lionsgate's Evil Dead 2 25th Anniversary Blu-ray.

Michael Felsher, who created the new special features said to Fangoria that Lionsgate is aware of the negative response to the transfer used for the Anchor Bay Blu-ray, so I hope they did a new transfer.

I can't say if it was intentional but I was amused that both the new Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown Blu-rays are affixed with "Director Approved" stickers that are strikingly similar to the older director approved stickers of a certain company we all know and love, though yellow instead of black.

Anyone compare the Pulp Fiction BD to the Panorama mastering from Hong Kong? Some scenes look a bit different, most notably the one where Travolta gives Thurman the adrenaline shot. It looks more yellow with a boost in contrast.

I haven't seen any comparison other than the DVDBeaver screenshots, but I'm gonna side with the Lionsgate release since it was "supervised and approved" by Quentin Tarantino.

In the past, I would've taken the same stance, but after the French Connection and Do the Right Thing, a transfer supervised and approved by the director seems to mean less and less when it's years after fact. Maybe it's a changing taste or memory, but it's really unfortunate when they produce something that isn't close to what was originally released in theaters.

That's not quite the case with Pulp Fiction, for the most part, it's not that different from the Panorama Blu-Ray or the Lincoln Center screening back in May, but some scenes are, and I don't remember those scenes looking so yellow with such a high contrast when they projected it at Lincoln Center. I'd have to see the film projected again to be 100% sure though.

It does look to be severely boosted to me in some scenes and there's been some processing. It was a little annoying and I suspect an attempt to make it look more "HD" but I could live with that aspect. What I found distracting, though, was the constant strobing of quickly moving objects, which is something I'd expect from an interlaced transfer. Doing screen grabs you can see the trailing fairly distinctly. Jackie Brown's the same and everyone looks very orange in that one, something I don't recall when I saw it in the theater (though it was years ago.) I'm actually very disappointed with both of these discs, even if they are, yes, still the best way I've seen them on home video. Could still be a lot better.

FWIW, the Panorama Blu-Ray may have pitch issues. The soundtrack is at a higher pitch than the Lionsgate Blu-Ray.

Coppola's "One From The Heart" seems to have gotten rereleased by Lionsgate earlier this year, but is this the same in content from the previous release?

Some etailers say 1-disc, some say 2-disc. Can't find any images of back covers either. Anyone know?
