Approximately 600 minutes out of roughly 1000 minutes' content in the French set, similar to last time (Gaumont Cinema Premier Vol. 1 was 1070 min. though).

Is that actually a cover or just some marketing art of some kind? It doesn't look anything like a Kino cover.

Even if it is, though, it still looks better than their DVD cover.

They finally caught up to Criterion's "line at the top" covers. Maybe in 5-6 years, we shall see that "wacky K".

I took that from DVD AF, but that cover is also shown on Amazon's listing, so apparently this is what we're getting, barring any changes made between now and release date.

Besides the fact that it looks so-Criterion-like, they are using the blu sticker to top it off. I can't say I don't like it, it's actually surprising from Kino.

If it comes in a thick clear plastic case, then I'll really be surprised.

I know this was mentioned on the Passages thread, but Kino president Donald Krim has died: here is the obituary linked to in the other thread, and here is the thread on Nitrateville.

That's really sad especially as he was only about 60. I wonder how much he was involved with the day to day operations of the business.

blu-ray.com has listed blu-ray releases of Lee Chang-dong's Poetry and Eisenstein's Strike respectively for Aug. 23 and Aug. 30. Glad about Poetry, as I was not sure Kino-Lorber would treat it blu.

David Holzman's Diary on Blu-ray? Since when did Kino get such huge balls?

According to Amazon, the disc will also contain My Girlfriend's Wedding, Pictures From Life's Other Side, and My Son's Wedding to My Sister-In-Law. This is so awesome, I have to go wear sunglasses.

Can anyone who's got the blu of Scent of Green Papaya confirm what region it is, as Axelmusic says it's region free, while Beaver stated that it was A-locked.

Thanks, fdm - I opted for the dvd based on Beaver's info because I'm do not have a region free blu player. Now it appears that I could have got the blu all along - this'll be the last time that I rely solely on Beaver for region coding info; they've made this mistake before with Marwencol. Even if the checkdiscs supplied are different from the finished product, they should at least verify what the region coding is supposed to be. How many sales are being lost due to bad information?

The Cigarette Girl of Mosselprom on DVD, Boccaccio '70 AND Battling Butler / Go West on blu-ray are upcoming from Kino. The first two titles are already available from Amazon for pre-order.

Still on the fence whether to get the Sophia Loren DVD set as opposed to the bluray set. (Price difference as the justification) But since I haven't read any reviews of the DVD versions, and I'm afraid they still might be from the "Kino DVD standards", can anyone comment?
