I'm a few months late with this but, in light of its recent box office record breaking success in Brazil, it seemed more than fitting to acknowledge Elite Squad 2. For me, José Padilha's 2007 original was an absolute masterpiece, one of the finest films of the 00's, so I'm hugely anticipating this one.

Sold. I really hope this turns into a late career triumph for Wenders.

Trailer for Estonian film that might get some international attention in 2011: "Letters to Angel" (Kirjad Inglile)

I adore Pina Bausch and can't wait to see the film, but I'm still skeptical about the 3D thingie. Even for Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams, which should elicit a similar reaction, the reviews were underwhelming with regards to the 3D.

Potiche (François Ozon, 2011)

#484 Post by Jeff »

The Playlist has the trailer for Ozon's upcoming Potiche. It looks like a charming vehicle for everyone's favorite old French lady.

I've been somewhat disappointed by a lot of Ozon's stuff, but I love 8 Women, which the article says this most closely resembles.

Dylan Dog

Unfortunately doesn't look like it will even graze the awesomeness that is Cemetery Man; Brandon Routh is not Rupert Everett, sadly.

It's not really comedic like the other two, but it's still one of the best things to come out of the recent superhero movement.

I kept waiting for something that would suggest this wasn't a joke, but even the ending when we find out it's appropriating (or rather misappropriating) the title from a literary masterpiece seems like it has to be a joke.

If not, this is further ammunition for my "Ray Liota was always garbage" stance. I still have problems even getting through Good Fellas because of him.

The FP. I cannot wait for this. It looks wonderfully insane with its post apocalyptic motif, Schumacher-Batman colors, and deadly serious tone.

I'm hoping for the filmmakers' sake that it's meant to be tongue in cheek.

Hirokazu Kore-eda's new film Kiseki (I Wish) has a Japanese trailer and is out in Japan in June (please let there be a Blu-Ray with English subs at year's end!).

Patrice Leconte's The Suicide Shoplooks like it could be one of the most interesting films in 2012. I quite like the animation in this, and hopefully it'll turn out to be worthwhile.

Yikes! I Really don't like the look of that at all. Not my thing I guess, really don't like the animation style or the premise.

I love the Price imatator they got for the narration and while it seems a bit stiff I love the models for the animation,

Julia Leigh's Cannes competition pic. The astute employment of almost otherworldly ethereal ingenue Emily Browning sells me on this; the excellence of the trailer imagery and the tonal control on display merely seals the deal.

I know I'm probably alone on the board for this, but that is hilarious and I can't wait for it now that I know it exists.
