Isn't the venue for the early band performances the local coffee house / milk bar?

But no. No, it isn't A Brighter Summer Day. And the TV-shaped cabin on the boat isn't a clue for Taipei Story, either. Are you crazy? What next, Hou Hsiao-hsien?

(Hey, maybe our reaction to the realization that there is no clue here for A Brighter Summer Day is in fact a clue for A City of Sadness!)

And re: domino's amazingly useless psychic power (little known fact: he is in fact a member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes), I wished I'd posted just before him so I could re-edit that post to 'respond' to his response and thereby deepen the mindfuckery.

No swo17, that's retarded.

Hey, I think I figured it out!

Maybe the fact that it's taking us years to guess all the clues is itself a clue that Andrei Rublev is finally coming out.

Lovers on the Bridge was released on home video by Miramax. I asked about it sometime last year. Mulvaney's response: "keep checking back, and maybe your prayers will be answered."

Now we get a clue that features what could be a tugboat, and snowfall. I'm always wrong about crap like this, but if I somehow turn out to be right this time, I plan to get someone to drive me around while I smack mailboxes with a baseball bat like they do in Dazed & Confused!

Woah.

I suppose now is as good a time as any to reveal that I've been the collective mods' Malkovich puppet this entire time. The only post that was actually mine was the one where I asked when Bottle Rocket's coming.

perhaps the boat and snowflakes are referring to a new version of A Night to Remember?

If by some wacky chance this turns out to be correct, and Criterion is also doing L'Atalante, this would surely be the only time when that mythical creature 'The Double Clue' could not only exist, but actually made complete, satisfying sense.

Has anybody asked about Chang-dong Lee's Secret Sunshine?

This would be a great addition it's a real shame there's no Korean cinema in the CC yet.

Does anyone else think that Michio Yamamoyo's Bloodthirsty trilogy would be good for an Eclipse set at least?

I have no problem indulging in my wishful thinking a little longer, as I remember snow as a significant symbolic element in some scenes of Andrei Rublev. ...sigh...

Yes, which is driving me wild thinking it's Interiors (which featured a female character clearly serving as a Woody surrogate since he didn't act in the movie). But the night gown get-up is throwing me a little.
In a nightgown and hanging over the ocean waves?

Doesn't the character walking out into the surf at the end do so in her nightgown? I'm not sure that I've seen it since around 1978, but that's the image that I have in my memory.

It's Roman Polanski's Cul-de-sac.

I suppose if the boat at night thing could be A Night to Remember, it could just as easily be Borzage's History is Made at Night, which Criterion has the rights to. Still, wrong kind of boat.

About freakin' time they release this. What, they've been sitting on it now for like 5 years? :-k I really wish they'd clear out their backlog completely before starting to take in more new titles.

Insignificance is really great news. \:D/
Now if only someone could work to rehabilitate the image of Eureka.

Has anyone guessed that the snow falling on water could be Stranger Than Paradise on Blu? There's that long scene where
they stand on the dock.
