Could the Sunday be Sunday Bloody Sunday?
The black haired woman seems Italian, Fellini or Pasolini?

Question, what Chabrol films is suppose to come out this year? The lady might be from that, though I don't think Les bonnes femmes is one of them.

Could be Silvana Mangano in Bitter Rice, a Janus property.

Stupid question Jeff, but how can you see what is a Janus property? I never knew Bitter Rice was one.

Now the boat and snow has to be clues. The 2 left. Why would he draw all of this on a boat while snowing if they are not clues.

Over on facebook people have suggested a Blu of Notti Bianche for the snow? But there's so many possibilities. Ice Storm also seems quite likely, but it doesn't really look like a storm in the picture..

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but White Material is largely set at a coffee plantation, and there is significant machete use. In fact, there's a shot in the trailer (0:57) of a machete resting on a coffee can.someone on fb suggested the cup/knife would be White Material? can anyone comment on that?

There was a list posted here a couple years ago of all the Janus properties that was later pulled, but I saved a copy. Feel free to PM me for it (same for anyone else reading this)*CG* wrote:Stupid question Jeff, but how can you see what is a Janus property? I never knew Bitter Rice was one.

Could the boat be Stromboli?
And I still wonder if the snow refers to a Michael Snow box, perhaps in the same vein as their Brakhage collection.

This would be a dream come true, though as of early October 2010 (Q&A after screening of Wavelength in Toronto), he was still vehemently against his films ever being seen on anything other than film. However, P. Adams Sitney was present, and passionately lobbied for him to reconsider.justeleblanc wrote:And I still wonder if the snow refers to a Michael Snow box, perhaps in the same vein as their Brakhage collection.

There's not a good central location for finding Janus titles. I've got the list Domino is referring to, which was culled from a library system for requesting prints or tapes from Janus. It's not close to complete though. It's what that library system had listed as available from Janus at the time. Bitter Rice doesn't appear on that list (probably because prints and tapes weren't available for loan at that time). It's just a title that I've associated with Janus for a long time. They released a VHS of it on the Home Vision Label 10 or 15 years ago.domino harvey wrote:There was a list posted here a couple years ago of all the Janus properties that was later pulled, but I saved a copy. Could be. Until you mentioned that, I hadn't noticed all the splashes around the boat. What A Disgrace wrote:Could the water be refering to Breaking the Waves?
Even though the fact that Zero for Conduct is finally coming makes me think that Criterion might have finally nailed down the rights to L'Atalante too, that is definitely not the correct kind of ship to be representing that film.

Considering how badly the did the wackyart for Stagecoach the wrong design for L'Atalante isn't beyond believing.

I'm thinking that the boat means a Life Aquatic blu upgrade.
