Tokyo Story BD is highly doubtful, having a major work in Japanese cinema coming out in another Region A country before Shochiku releases it by itself.... But I'd like Criterion to surprise us with that.

That Harvey Milk doc is fabulous and a great companion piece to Van Sant's film.

Still no more Chaplin? At this rate, it's going to take a long time to work through his catalog

The homepage says a Blu upgrade of Au revoir les enfants but it's not on the coming soon page yet.

I'm in for Naruse and Yi Yi big time. The rest I can do without, though I may rent Topsy Turvy.

[passes out]
[woken by incessant operetta music]
Not a bad haul in the main line. Topsy Turvy is probably my favourite latter-day (post-Meantime) Leigh, and A Sense of History is almost worth the price of admission alone. Harvey Milk is a great documentary I'll be glad to own, and Yi Yi on Blu is a prayer answered.
But the big news, unsurprisingly, is the Eclipse set. Yet again, Criterion seems set to be releasing more silents this year than ever before, and this release plugs a massive gnawing gap that can't currently be filled anywhere else. As MoC have regretfully attested, this is a release nobody else would be able to risk, so I raise a cup of sake in Criterion's honour.

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vo
This is the first time ever that I'll be buying every title announced in a month. Blus for the Yang and Malle, Silent Naruse and announcements of Mikado, Topsy Turvy and the marvellous Harvey Milk documentary! I'm almost hoping that the MoC announcements won't appeal to me so my wallet won't suffer so much..

Nothing for me after Amarcord and Senso last month. Hopefully MoC will announce a couple of treats later.

AAAAAH !!
I never thought I'd see more Naruse on DVD, and certainly not the silents. That's huge. Very huge. Good thing I never went for horrible Each Night I Dream VHSrip lying around. Thank you, Criterion.

Not even the Naruse set? I can't imagine any reason anybody would say no to these. To finally see the mythical Flunky, Work Hard alone makes this the best and most important release by criterion in many months.TMDaines wrote:Nothing for me, hopefully MoC will announce a couple of treats later.

Obviously not alone in this, but the Naruse announcement blew my mind. Very excited about this one. And glad I held off on buying the Yi Yi dvd.

I can salvage the Naruse set out of the March announcements. I have to rent the others.
