Has there ever been any actual confirmation of this other than people on Facebook wishing it into existence?

I don't remember the exact reply, but Criterion confirmed that they are working on it.swo17 wrote:Has there ever been any actual confirmation of this other than people on Facebook wishing it into existence?

Yeah, at the same time as Night and the Hunter. So if that ones coming, F&A in Blu is coming too.

The outlook does not look so good now as it had before, but it was rather uncertain from the start: F&A on Blu was mentioned in a wish-list for 2010 type post on Criterion's Facebook wall, and Criterion replied that the user would have a good year. The post is no longer available, as the user deleted their profile some time later, and apparently created an altogether new account.eerik wrote:I don't remember the exact reply, but Criterion confirmed that they are working on it.swo17 wrote:Has there ever been any actual confirmation of this other than people on Facebook wishing it into existence?
When asked again on Facebook about their "confirmed" F&A Blu in the past couple months, Criterion responded something like "We did?" or "When was that?" :-k

just a few weeks ago, they said Fanny and Alexander and Wild Strawberries and something seemed a good list, but that there was also a case to be made for Autumn Sonata, a title that was unsolicited by the person asking about Bergman blu. Looks like a revisit is in the works

Yeah that was me.
Someone asked which Bergman's will be likely to be upgraded to BD next year
So I replied saying something like - After Fanny and Alexander, I think it'll be something like Wild Strawberries, The Silence of God Trilogy or Cries and Whispers.
Criterion replied that it was a good list, but that Autumn Sonata and Scenes from a Marriage were also being considered.

so "a couple" by next summer....and of course they named Autumn Sonata, I finally picked it up for the wife a couple of months ago. Only cost me ten bucks though, so won't lose sleep on that one.
I'm still giddy about The Magician on blu though

Thanks...picked it up today...and I was pretty sure I was making it all up, but wanted to be sure.Doctor Sunshine wrote:It goes instance, fluke, lark, month of Sundays, couple-a-bunch, habit, problem.HistoryProf wrote:Most Dangerous Game & Simon of the Desert....is 5 a habit?
Re: Ace in the Hole, I don't remember anything--could be wrong--but they've stuck mostly to the first hundred or so spine numbers, with the exception of a few cannon giants and music- and technophile-related films; a couple they knew were going out of print shortly and wouldn't get another chance at; and Becker's pet project, The Last Emperor. So you should be safe in picking it up.

I caught Truffaut's Two English Girls in DC last week and it was preceded by a Janus Films logo; any reason to believe this won't end up in the collection sometime in the near future?

Criterion's been sitting on a few Truffaut titles for some time now and God only knows when they'll bother to release them

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vo
I assume they are sitting on a number of comparatively minor art house titles that will fill out an ESSENTIAL ART HOUSE box at some point. For instance, unless there are plenty of archival footage to spread around I imagine they wont waste their time trying to find special features for both ZAZIE DANS LE METRO and BLACK MOON if it means delaying both releases indefinitely. Of course, I might be wrong. (On a side note, aren't we due for another Malle as they've released a new Malle every year for four years.)domino harvey wrote:Criterion's been sitting on a few Truffaut titles for some time now and God only knows when they'll bother to release them
That said, the Truffaut titles are THE SOFT SKIN, CONFIDENTIALLY YOURS, THE WOMAN NEXT DOOR, TWO ENGLISH GIRLS, and maybe one more. These could easily see an Eclipse set titles TRUFFAUT'S LOVERS or something to that effect.

I can't imagine Criterion would ever want to Eclipse Truffaut.

Didn't they name their softball team after him? What A Disgrace wrote:I can't imagine Criterion would ever want to Eclipse Truffaut.
Then again, I've never fully understood why the Late Ozu box set was Eclipse instead of main line, it might be more a matter of features availability than anything.

Obscure and overlooked movies? I was under the impression that most of the contents of the Late Ozu box set were generally considered major Ozu...domino harvey wrote:You do understand the basic concept of the Eclipse sets, right?

I was looking through an old 'Forthcoming' thread on here yesterday and was wondering the same thing. Also, what about the Yamanaka?Cinephrenic wrote:Remember Naruse? What ever happened to that set we were suppose to get years ago...

Aware they've commented they're working on Fassbinder, but what about World on a Wire specifically?

There's a reason for that.mfunk9786 wrote:Ozu fans consider any Ozu major Ozu.
Though I didn't mind the Ozu Eclipses because it meant getting the films faster and cheaper. At the mainline rate we wouldn't have seen half of those films released yet. And, besides commentaries, I doubt there are many meaningful supplements we're missing out on.
