Well, it just went down further in my Netflix queue.

I know this is not necessarily a telling sign, but since it has been in the past it's worth noting that "My Winnipeg" was just added to Netflix instant

So did a bunch of other IFC titles (Saddest Music in the World, Me and You and Everyone We Know, et al). I don't think that really indicates anything.

I listed all of the IFC titles added on July 9 in this post. I speculate that IFC retain the streaming rights for their films and they are the ones controlling what appears and when it appears on Netflix.

Adding to the vague "look for more of his films from Criterion in the future" in reference to Jan Troell and the release of Everlasting Moments, they responded thusly to a comment of FB about wanting them to give us Emigrants:
Mayukh Sen posts: utvandrarna (the emigrants) PLEASE.

The Criterion Collection responds: Thank you.
Not sure how to interpret that other than positively...despite it not really making sense

Isn't this just a play on niceties parent's teach their children - you know, please and thank you? Seems just like a cheeky response to me...

Does Warner even control Troell's two seventies films?

If they do these it will be interesting how they issue them. I imagine each film would be two discs on SD DVD with the american cut and original cut on separate discs. I wonder if they will have dual language track options on each edition though? The dubbing is quite strong, not great (like some Italian films) but not unpleasant by any means, and it historically reproduces how the films were received in the United States (both going on to numerous accolades). So possibly two audio versions on each version of the film.

Then I wonder if the blurays will be able to support the dual editions seamlessly, with only a single disc allowing you to choose which edition (and language) version you might want to watch.

It could well be their most complicated bluray authoring and mastering job they've yet encountered. :-p

I think the Brakhage films will hold that title for a long time to come.

having not seen the set, aren't the brakhage films just a series of titles as authored on the disc? seamless branching and multiple audio tracks across the seamless branching would be a much more difficult authoring task than adding another title. In terms of telecine & digital reproduction of a film image, which includes mastering (I wasn't thinking when I wrote authoring and mastering last night), yes, the unique qualities of the brakhage films would make it the most difficult set they've ever had to address.

I'd like to see how they would handle Chelsea Girls.

... except that those titles have already been released here on DVD, while "My Winnipeg" hasn't. :-"

Titles being announced tomorrow. We probably know what the slate will be like, but hopefully another MGM title will show up.

I'll predict
Antichrist
Hausu
Night of the Hunter
Cronos
Paths of Glory
The Killing

all on blu and SD, which would be an unbelievably huge month.

Which is why it will never happen. I'm counting on a couple of their year-end promises to slip, as it seems Cronos has.

Wouldn't Seven Samurai BD be a possible addition for this batch? Since it popped up at Amazon at the same time as Videodrome BD

Bit unsure about Night of the Hunter. What's the shortest gap between newsletter hint and announcement?

Also, my money's still on Branded to Kill in Blu.

I think this is the month we see Darjeeling, plus 1 or 2 catalog Anderson titles on blu.. Kwaidan blu & Hausu as well. Maybe Antichrist?

Seven Samurai, Videodrome and Night of the Hunter seem like better bets for December..

I'm thinking the Anderson(s) and Night of the Hunter will probably be (the only) December titles. Just a hunch.
