Re: Netflix
I just received notice that my instant streaming disc for the Wii should arrive tomorrow. Now I can finally plug that thing back in...

Re: Netflix Instant Viewing Log
I've had Looking for Mr. Goodbar in the saved section of my queue for a while, and it is now listed as "coming soon" for instant viewing. I'll post back when it becomes available.

It's probably a Starz print, it was a staple of cable movie channels when I was growing up (some childhood I led!)

And now we'll be waiting 28 days to rent Universal and Fox DVDs too. Fine, just keep the old movies coming via streaming.

Re: Netflix
If Netflix gets access to the films Fox has been showing on their movie channel, this could be HUGE-- they show so many great classics in the proper aspect ratio that aren't out there on DVD in the US.

Re: Netflix
I agree with you somewhat, Matt; but it's still annoying that Netflix doesn't stand their ground re: release dates. It's obnoxious that now three major film studios are pulling this "you scratch our back, we'll scratch yours" shit, especially because you just know that Blockbuster is going to score the release day exclusivity and then six months from now they'll get the same streaming content anyway.

Re: Netflix
well that sucks. I'm glad they'll have more stuff streaming, but waiting and extra month for new releases is a pain in the ass - especially when you have kids whose friends are renting them at stores and yours can't understand why we can't watch it yet.Matt wrote:And now we'll be waiting 28 days to rent Universal and Fox DVDs too. I fear Criterion may have started delaying their releases to Netflix as well. Both Kapo and Ride With Devil have been bumped down to the saved section of my queue.

Any word on when/if Netflix is going to re-incorporate users' friends settings back into the mix? I miss being able to see who's seen a given film when I look at its profile

Re: Netflix
According to this, they have no plans to do so. Add this to the growing list of ways in which Netflix does not care about its customers.domino harvey wrote:Any word on when/if Netflix is going to re-incorporate users' friends settings back into the mix? Re: Netflix
Jesus, what a condescending "explanation." I guess they've finally started to realize that consumers are stuck with them for convenience sake, so they can do whatever the fuck they want for at least the next couple years until a better alternative arises-- the suggestion in some of these comments that Netflix is moving towards a streaming-only platform is terrifying

Re: Netflix
I think that streaming has got to be where the rental market is headed. My curiosity is: will there ever be an effort made to have bonus features and/or audio commentaries available via streaming?

Re: Netflix
We may see a reversion back to the VHS/laserdisc era where movie-only streaming becomes the dominant format, accompanied by a very small niche market for (expensive) physical Blu-ray discs with extra features and booklets.

Before anyone else you predicted the dawn of the DVD era. I fear that this prediction will prove to be equally on target. Blu-ray be damned!!Matt wrote:We may see a reversion back to the VHS/laserdisc era where movie-only streaming becomes the dominant format, accompanied by a very small niche market for (expensive) physical Blu-ray discs with extra features and booklets.

Re: Netflix
Fucking Netflix! Why isn't Ride with the Devil in the main area of my queue anymore? Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Netflix
Not with Ride with the Devil (which was not in my queue), but Kapo jumped into my "saved" queue a few days ago. I'm waiting for Vivre sa vie to do the same thing any moment now . . .mfunk9786 wrote:Fucking Netflix! Why isn't Ride with the Devil in the main area of my queue anymore? EDIT: The new Walkabout disc has moved to "saved" as well.
