Re: Criterion Facebook Page
I've asked about three times now - though I know they're quite busy - about the possibility of further Saura releases in the future, whether near or not.
There's nothing in the sticky topic at the top of this page regarding this matter, but I assumed Peppermint Frappé (sp?) would see the light of day... Someday.

Unless they somehow lose the rights to it, always seemed like a no-brainer to me.Flike wrote:In reference to In the Mood for Love:

This will be helpful when it happens:

Actually, we didn't supply the streaming versions of any of these three, so we assume they'll continue to be available... Look for a page listing our official Netflix offerings soon.

Re: Criterion Facebook Page
It would be nice if Criterion could include the nearly two-hour 2002 BBC documentary on Visconti. Although not ideal, it includes candid interviews with Granger and others who worked with the director. Biographically at least, I think it's considerably better than the very negative reviews on imdb suggest.

Re: Criterion Facebook Page
That will explain why the Studio Canal release didn't bother with English subs then - English speaking areas not called the US get shafted again, yey! At least the Criterion should be good but it'll be a while I suspect.HistoryProf wrote:They confirmed unequivocally that Visconti's Senso is coming up

Two out of four at least! Maybe Night of the Hunter, too!

Re: Criterion Facebook Page
Don't write off Badlands either. Four for four is a very strong possibility. Nothing definite, but I've heard...things. Though I think the idea of all of them making it out in 2010 might be overly optimistic on Criterion's part.denti alligator wrote:![]()

The biggest news on the Criterion Facebook page is that Joshua Goldberg has returned...it just hasn't been the same without him.

Well, that's one way to round up all the usual suspects (I felt like doing a Mexican Wave when Chico Ejiro got his inevitable mention, but there was nobody else here. Peace!).

Re: Criterion Facebook Page
Time for a best of Facebook suggestions round-up:
-Kundun (Martin Scorsese) this film deserves more attention and praise...Munich (Steven Spielberg) this is one of his most underrated films...The Insider (Michael Mann) probably his best film and Russell Crowe's best performance.
-Darren Aronofsky's 'The Fountain'...Guy Maddin's 'My Winnipeg'
-what are the odds of you guys aquiring the rights to the acclaimed director's cut of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford- the most underrated film of the last decade?
-Fishtank and White Ribbon blu-ray please.
-Song of the South! Yes it's Disney, and yes it would be hard, but if anyone can do it it's Criterion.
-An Alan J. Pakula Conspiracy Boxset: Klute/The Parallax View/All the President's Men
-Since the usual suspects are already well-represented here (is this guy aping Zedz? -ed), I'll suggest a few contemporary big-studio holdings unlikely to be revisited by their current distribs:
Michael Mann's THE INSIDER
Robert Duvall's THE APOSTLE
Coens' THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE
Soderbergh's KING OF THE HILL
-Emile de Antonio's Millhouse-A White Comedy, a Susan Sontag Eclipse set
and my favorite:
-Rene Clement's Plein Soleil in a box set with Anthony Minghella's Talented Mr Ripley
