We've not scheduled the title with a release date yet. As soon as we do that, I'll release a grab (seeing as you'll guess it within a day or so!)

From the Moc Twitter:
we've been trying to sort Caligari out for years. Will try and make a final push this year, but we've lots on the radar.
Sounds great, hopefully this will come true as soon as possible. And don't forget "Genuine" as an extra, please!

Excellent news! One of the most important films in film history and not a single decent DVD release. Pathetic.

MoC to the rescue! on Blu, to be sure, too!

Isn't there a technical problem that prevents Blu releases of silents that don't run at 24 fps - or has it been overcome?

We've been doing lots of tests. It's looking promising.

I pray they will manage to rescue "Greed" too, but you can't have all, I suppose. I only hope that Eureka insists on releasing "Caligari" on SD, too, as with "M" [-o<

This is excellent news! Is it too soon to say which scores might be available for Caligari? My personal preference is for the Timothy Brock score (which can be found on the R1 Image release).

Can I place my pre-order now for a triple threat of Metropolis, Die Nibelungen and Caligari in time for Christmas? :P

I'm pretty sure Eureka will want to release Caligari on SD too.

Any chance of a blu-ray release of Dreyer's Joan of Arc within the next 24 months? Or even better the next 12? I have to see this film again, I have to own it! And I'm going for the Criterion, unless you will make it blu.

Have you looked into 'Dans la Nuit'- Charles Vanel's directorial debut by any chance ? (http://filmsdefrance.com/FDF_Dans_la_nuit_rev.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
It could make a great extra for the forthcoming Le Grand Jeu perhaps. There is also a great soundtrack available from Louis Sclavis on ecm as well who incidentally has done music for Die Bergkatze that unfortunately didn't make it onto the Lubitsch box.

Nick, any chance of MoC releasing "Woman in the Dunes" to complete the Teshigahara trilogy?

I have "Face of Another" and plan on buying "Pitfall", but maybe I'll go for the Criterion box if you have no plans for WITD.

An MoC "Woman in the Dunes" sounds well-nigh impossible, as the title has an excellent release from the BFI. Why not go for that release?

Any chance for some Mitchell Leisen?
Hold Back the Dawn (1941)
To Each His Own (1946)

or No Man of Her Own (1950)?

More support for some Leisen in the collection from me, especially now that any more Leisen from Universal might end up on their DVD-R line, unless Remember The Night is selling well.

Hold Back the Dawn and To Each His Own are official releases in Spain and available through e-bay (very pricey) and fnac Spain (http://www.fnac.es" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) though I've never ordered from them and don't know the drill yet. Anybody ordered from them? I've had terrible luck getting ahold of Spanish product in the past.

No Man Of Her Own is a masterpiece, one of Leisen's very best with Remember The Night and Swing High, Swing Low which needs to be rescued from the PD hell its been banished to.

There are also some recent Spanish releases of several John Stahl films as well: Holy Matrimony, (another masterpiece) and The Walls of Jericho and The Foxes of Harrow, neither of which I've seen. Any recommendations on these anyone? (Though Stahl directing Rex Harrison, Maureen O'Hara, Cornel Wilde, Linda Darnell, Anne Baxter, Kirk Douglas in their prime, through A-budgeted melodramas has got to at least be interesting.)

Also a couple of Fox Jacques Tourneur's Way Of A Gaucho and Anne Of The Indies.

101 - No quarto da Vanda (Pedro Costa, 2000)
102 - Colossal Youth (Pedro Costa, 2006)
I presume these are being released on DVD only, am I right? Not that it is a huge factor for me.

Well, damn. If MoC puts these out on Blu-ray, I'll be at a loss on how to approach buying them (of course, they would probably be region B, so no, I wouldn't).

I'm pretty sure the two Costa films were shot in standard def, though.

Yeah, a Blu release would look exactly the same as the DVD.

I thought I read otherwise but now I can't find my source. If it was and MoC release it on Blu, I'll probably just end up getting that and the Criterion set.
