My Sensei who is German always ends every sentence with "Ya okay."
He talks a lot about traveling on a boat to make comparisons which is funny beacuse I live in a desert climate.

I couldn't agree more! I just re-watched it and was shocked at how awful it was. I'm also not a fan of The Fugitive Kind, one of Lumet's weakest films. Great cast though, both films!MyNameCriterionForum wrote:Wild At Heartknives wrote:It was, but I believe Warners bought it out some time ago, or at least they're the one's distributing it now.
Also what Lynch film is that? The worst, to my knowledge, is Dune and the two films don't seem all that similar.
Also, speaking of MGM. Samuel Fuller's Park Row needs to be included in any deal. Christa Lang-Fuller has been talking with Peter Becker about it, and on facebook, they said they were trying to figure something out.

I posted the 'Kanye West knows that Criterion is ducking Rivette' video on their Facebook page and they got somewhat angry. I start thinking that maybe Rivette doesn't like Criterion and not vice versa :-k

Criterion endorses the Auteurs, so it's not like they're known for good taste when it comes to the internetperkizitore wrote:I posted the 'Kanye West knows that Criterion is ducking Rivette' video on their Facebook page and they got somewhat angry. Disliking Kanye West-related Internet memes shows good taste on their part.

re: BADLANDS
Kind of cool as that's one of those titles people're always requesting that I guess I just assumed would never come. BADLANDS on Blu, mm.Any chance? We have to say yes. Probability? Some. Hope? Endless.

They should finally release Walkabout and then seek the rights of Badlands!Flike wrote:re: BADLANDS

The semi-confirmation of Badlands is great news. Hopefully The Thin Red Line will eventually show up too!

That's not even remotely a "semi-confirmation". Just a typical "hopefully someday" response.

This may seem like a ridiculous suggestion to some, but I'm sure many will agree.
Romero's Night Of The Living Dead would make a fabulous Criterion DVD. I mean, this IS a masterpiece, it IS a well known movie, it IS in public domain, it DOESN'T have a fully decent DVD release. It may be difficult, but it would be a worthy title for the collection.

The Weinstein's can make it right, why should Criterion bother?Dante Vescio wrote:This may seem like a ridiculous suggestion to some, but I'm sure many will agree.

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.2
It HAS had a decent DVD release. Two in fact -- one by Elite Entertainment and one by the Weisnteins, complete with TWO audio commentaries by practically the entire cast and crew, plus retrospective interviews. Not to mention that both DVDs contain beautifully restored picture and sound. It will never look much better than it does on these DVDs, considering the conditions under which it was made. I can't imagine what else you could want for it.Dante Vescio wrote:This may seem like a ridiculous suggestion to some, but I'm sure many will agree.

Pistols at dawn Phrenic! Your 'Cine' has been withdrawn due to lack of taste.Cinephrenic wrote:As long as its not Beau travail. What a snooze...
Criterion might be well drawn to 35 rhums with its expressed Ozu Late Spring references. While they're at it they could do worse than take more than one more leaf out of this company's bookDadapass wrote:Great news! I'd be quite happy with TROUBLE EVERY DAY entering the collection, but then I think many of us are hoping her first film is the Rivette documentary as a special feature.

I was thinking it might also be an interview on another filmmakers work. I didn't even know about that Rivette doc!justeleblanc wrote:I'd be quite happy with TROUBLE EVERY DAY entering the collection, but then I think many of us are hoping her first film is the Rivette documentary as a special feature.

Wasn't Denis AD on Paris, Texas? Could be that.

It could be 35 Shots of Rum and White Material, I spoke to my old friend at Criterion today at the NYFF. I would LOVE to see her Rivette documentary. By the way, Rivette's latest is fantastic.

Yes and also Wings of Desire. She's also worked with Jarmusch. A mop up of stuff that's slipped through the net even in France (US go home,Vers Mathilde etc) in a box a la Varda would be great but I'm not holding my breath.CSM126 wrote:Wasn't Denis AD on Paris, Texas? Could be that.

What with MoC's new edition recently out...
Is anybody working on Sunrise for a US release? I found the earlier Fox release... well, bad- but it has gone out of print!
If it is in the works- and not done by Fox- I hope Kino isn't the one to pick it up.
