Re: Fake Criterion Covers
God, that's good, Guido. I don't know what Criterion is thinking. That's always been one of my favorite posters, except for Paramount's title treatment which is incongruous with the rest of the design. I love what you've done with the title. I'll have to agree it's pretty tough to read, but it looks great.

That font is not the same one used on the poster, and you're right, it's impossible to read.Saturnome wrote:The problem I have with that poster is that I can't read the title at all
And I'm not that crazy about it like the others

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
Oh you're right.
Well... I kinda like that sixties action-packed font on the original, but judging from comments around it seems that it doesn't fit the film at all. I haven't seen it; I won't go further.

Thanks for the feedback. Using your own handwriting is always a little tricky. Two new updates:

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
Great job. I like the simplicity of the second, non-handwritten font. The image itself is so wonderful that I don't think it needs anything fancy. I would buy that DVD in a heartbeat just for the cover.

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
I liked the first (handwritten) one best, but the second is probably the most viable of the three - any one of them would be so much better (and so much more in keeping with the 'Criterion' aesthetic) than the actual cover, which seems to have been designed to appeal to extreme sports fans. Brilliant job, Guido - I wouldn't have said this about any of the other fake covers in this thread, but in this case I would really love it if Criterion junked their cover for yours.

The second one is great, it's like someone has torn half a page out of a book.

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
havent been on a criterion forum for a while. the one i used to frequent decayed. thought i'd post some of the covers i have made.

the gold diggers of 1933 cover does not suit the movie at all, but thats what i came up with nonetheless. and yeah, ghosts before breakfast is only like 8 minutes long, but whatever, that image deserves a cover.

You've got some interesting stuff, there. I haven't seen Sadie Thompson but your cover's beautiful. That Election cover is a clever idea, although I'd nix that sickly-green color choice.

Stop Making Sense, the Night of the Hunter & Wild Child covers especially are sublime. Excellent work, really looking forward to seeing more.
