I tried to find out when they would anticipate releasing Vivre sa Vie, which after watching both Made in USA and 2 or 3 Things last week, I realized that it probably is Godard's finest achievement or at least most touching film. Never got a reply. Guess I have to wait another year, damn it.

In all seriousness, the CC could use a little more C-Love in the form of a STRAIGHT TO HELL disc. It's my second-favorite Cox after REPO MAN.

I'm VERY excited about MYSTERY TRAIN. Previous discs have been disappointing. I'd love to see DEAD MAN and GHOST DOG hit the collection, too.

I will be over the moon if the current Criterion Jarmusch's titles go high-def and Mystery Train gets the treatment it deserves. But Dead Man is already on Blu and i don't care that much about it to take up some valuable spine place

He is a dilettante, a bohemian. Cinema is inessential to his life. He is always the outsider, but not in a good way – he doesn’t get his hands dirty. Funny how Jarmusch's most recent movie, The Limits of Control, portrays bohemians as those who are out of touch with their elders (at least, that's how I recall John Hurt and Bill Murray in the movie seeing them as) and who are generally only intellectual in a purely artificial way. I wonder if he's addressing Herzog here indirectly.

To me Jarmusch'es movies always been about hitting a certain tone, earlier found by Wim Wenders, just a little rougher. I don't think that he's bad, just not that great either.

About Dead Man, I used to think it was inspired by El Dorado, also being a western John Wayne having the bullet inside of him, and the silly hat from James Caan. Then the other day I watched Kings of the Road where they actually say "dead man" at some point, and if you watch carefully, you can see a poster with a western picture of Robert Mitchum (probably from El Dorado) in the back of their van, where all the cinema spare parts are. So im guessing the core of Dead Man comes from Kings of the Road. Anyone noticed other stuff?

No, but there are many films far more worthy than Ghost Dog waiting to be part of the collection

I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I find the man even more fascinating then I find his films (I found Burden of Dreams much more compelling than Fitzcarraldo). His DVD commentaries are wonderful.

Yep..I have read it practically twice; which is exactly why I find BoD much more fascinating. Herzog is much more compelling than the character Fitzcarraldo.
