I just can't imagine that it's The Motorcycle Diaries. I mean, no one buys the current edition anyway, so why would they assume that people are clamoring for a Wowie-Zowie edition? Ever been to a Hastings and looked under M? It's filled with used copies of the movie selling for like $4.

Someone please explain this relationship between IFC and Criterion. As far as i know, there is no relationship.

Well, I'm not really sure how the various IFC companies (channel, film distributor, Website, movie theater) are tied together, if at all, but I recall IFC the channel working out a deal with Criterion to get cable rights to something like 14 of their releases. The IFC Center seems to regularly show Criterion films, and sell almost exclusively Criterion DVDs in their concession stand. On the other hand, they don't seem to be following each other on Twitter.

But I'd say the biggest thing is that IFC Films lists Criterion's release of Solo con tu paraja [sic] as one of their films here.

I haven't seen it, but as far as I can tell, Polanski's Che? has nothing to do with Che Guevara. Asking "che?" in Italian is just like saying "what?" in English.

Please refer to Howard's End being released on Criterion Blu Ray or things like Pygmalion and Black Orpheus being released to Essential Arthouse even though they didn't have any extras to begin with.

Also since Criterion tends to group releases together does this mean we'll get Gray's anatomy when they release this?

Being a denizen of Albuquerque, NM where both Spanish and English are official languages, it would sound more proper to say, "Chinga TU Puta Madre" or just saying "Chinga TU Madre".

Actually, I believe what I should have said was "Chinga a la puta madre." I apologize to any who might have noticed this oversight for my poor grammar.

Also, to any who would cry foul at Criterion's continuing foray into blah, blah, blah, let me remind you that Che was originally a Terrence Malick project, and that it still retains some of his words and flavor. And we all like Malick here, don't we?

Of course, this also begs the question: was Che Guevara a creationist?

Criterion releasing Soderbergh's Che in a blu box set would be a dream come true for me.

When can we usually expect confirmation or denial?

Since there's no release date mentioned I'd say it would be a winter release, maybe November at the earliest.

I`d love to see Soderbergh`s Che, with both the seperate films as well as the complete longer cut included. Would be awesome.

In all seriousness though, the first thing that came to mind was Soderbergh's "Che." I don't know if there's a planned release of that one yet (either the whole thing or the individual parts), so that would seem more likely to me than "Motorcycle Diaries." I haven't watched my DVD of "MD" since it first came out a few years ago, but I don't remember being disappointed with anything on it.

On a personal note, I'm hoping it's "Che" because I already have "MD" and don't want to trade that one in to get the Criterion treatment of it the way I did for "Days of Heaven" a couple years ago.

It's the "Whole Bloody Affair" syndrome. IE "It's too hard to get up and switch discs. Put it all on one. WAHHHHHHH!"

These people never would have survived Laserdisc.
