totally agree, there's so many amazing films only out in america which means there's alot of films i can't afford to see, dvd companies releasing the same stuff isn't a bad thing, if only because for example people in the uk have the choice of buying Vampyr criterion for £22 or the MoC for £12.

by the way am I a terrible individual for wanting to see the Passion of Joan of Arc re-edited minus the intertitles ala vivre sa vie??

So, on the MoC Twitter, there's a single post saying "Zaire '74".

Can we expect the new documentary "Soul Power" to get a release via MoC? I know Sony has the rights for the US, but who has it for England?

Oh, that would be fantastic. If nothing else, you've reminded me that I have to watch When We Were Kings, again. It's a documentary which chronicles the Ali/Foreman "Rumble in the Jungle" fight, while incorporating various clips from the music festival in Zaire. If I could time travel to any sporting/music event, it would be this one, and I'd spend my time talking to Norman Mailer about the "heavy bag", and George Plimpton about the "succubus".

It says here that Eureka is releasing Soul Power theatrically ahead of a DVD release. First screening at Glastonbury Festival.

It might be Eureka, the main company, rather than MoC.

I recently saw Barbara Loden's Wanda, and I'd heard there was a loaded special edition release in France...any chance MoC could translate those features and bring this gem out?

Either 400 Blows or Senso?
I am hoping for Nazarin unless Yume still has the UK rights. Here is the list of other possibilities.

I think you're reading this wrong: MoC are at Cannes right now, where they've acquired the rights to a 50-year-old film that was somebody's first feature (which rules out Senso and Nazarin). There's no indication that the film in question was also included in the 1959 Cannes line-up. I have no idea what it could be: there were a lot of emerging directors in the late 50s.

I suppose it's conceivable that it could be 400 BLOWS for Blu Ray (as well as DVD) from MK2, given this is on Criterion & MK2 Blu Rays already so suitable HD masters already exist... If so it might even be setting a interesting precedent - MoC licensing the same masters as Criterion for Region B Blu Ray UK/IRL release....

"400 Coups" seems likely, yes, and pretty unexciting unless you go for Blu. Much more interesting in the 1959 line-up - though technically speaking not a first feature, but a solo debut after a long time of collaboration - is Michael Powell's "Luna de miel". And please, MoC, whatever you acquired, acquire this one, too!

Franju's Eyes Without A Face is a 1960 film, and MoC already release other Franju's. Would be nice. 400 blows would be boring, i mean, how many releases are there already?

L'Avventura for Blu release? Made in 1960, it's close enough to being "50 years old".

OMG that would be sweet!... But probably too good to be true... Neither is it a film debut for Antonioni...
