Picnic at Hanging Rock so they finally get around to a re-release for people not upgrading to HD.

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation
"Down by Law" would be my top choice, if we're just talking about releasing a Blu-Ray edition of the current Criterion edition. That said, "Kwaidan" and "Picnic at Hanging Rock" are on my short list of much-needed reissues, so new expanded editions (particularly with the extended version of "Kwaidan" from the MOC release) on both SD and Blu-Ray would be much appreciated.

I have to disagree because if Criterion was to release Kwaidan or Picnic at Haning Rock on Blu-ray, they would be re-issues.Buttery Jeb wrote:"Down by Law" would be my top choice, if we're just talking about releasing a Blu-Ray edition of the current Criterion edition. Kwaidan is definitely the one in most need on the list, and also the one I want reissued asap. Pinic would be great too. Wish AR was on the list though.

I, too, would like to know specifics behind the Rublev hold-up.
That said, I went with Picnic.

You mean like Seventh Seal? (I went for Kwaidan, though Picnic was a close runner-up.)Cinephrenic wrote:I have to disagree because if Criterion was to release Kwaidan or Picnic at Haning Rock on Blu-ray, they would be re-issues.

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation
I went with Picnic, natch (notice my avatar). But I'm tempted to have someone else who has no interest in Criterion put in a vote for Kwaidan as well since it was so tempting. I recently purchased the Region 2 editions of both films, so I'd be curious to know what Criterion will carry over. I would expect them at least to have the uncut version of Kwaidan. Hopefully they will also include the original theatrical version of Picnic.

I wasn't aware we were able to write-in other candidates, and I already voted. Would someone else please be so kind as to suggest "every Tarkovsky film, including ones you don't have the rights to, including even ones he never got around to directing." Thanks in advance.

yeah finally having decent quality editions of Mirror or Nostalgia would be amazing. Sadly it won't happen.

That's a shame. Did you happen to ask him about Make Way for Tomorrow? I seem to recall some mention of it being on their radar, but haven't heard anything lately. Wouldn't a McCarey Eclipse set be a wonderful thing?Jeff wrote:Mulvaney says "no plans" for Ruggles of Red Gap.

In February, Mulvaney said that they would be releasing Make Way for Tomorrow in "the not-too-distant future."reno dakota wrote:That's a shame. Did you happen to ask him about Make Way for Tomorrow? MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW on Blu-ray would be intense!

It certainly would! Any idea if the film elements for this are in better shape than the BAC release would seem to suggest?peerpee wrote:MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW on Blu-ray would be intense!

I wrote in, specifically, that I would pay "up to 80 dollars" for a new transfer of Andrei Rublev - so if it comes out priced atypically high, you can put the blame on me.

I had a dream a few days ago that Kiarostami's Close Up would also be a Blu Ray.

To this Hal Hartley fan, Mulvaney graciously replied:
Currently, we do not have any plans to release TRUST.

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation
this was my vote...it is in most need of being remastered/revisited. the extant disc is pretty piss poor. Kwaidan isn't as bad, so it can waitpsufootball07 wrote:Picnic at Hanging Rock so they finally get around to a re-release for people not upgrading to HD.
But what i REALLY want to know, is where the hell is my bd of Walkabout?!??!??!?!?! Maybe they'll do it and PaHR together in the fall?

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation
I'm pretty certain Walkabout will be coming out with Insignificance, but all three of those at the same time would be great.
