A good Eclipse announcement woulda made this the best month inna dogs age (even though I couldn't give a mummy's crumbling rectum about the Godard, others are at least psyched).

I don't recall any whining regarding Human Condition, more like anticipation. Anyhow, this more than makes up for the lack of an Eclipse announcement.

I think Schreck's observation should be the official motto of the Criterion Forum. It should be placed prominently somewhere on the first page.

Hmmmm... 483 is Repulsion...

482 could be Cul-de-sac as Criterion ends to like to put director's films back to back when possible.

My thoughts are they are already releasing 4 titles in July, including the huge Human Condition, two Blus and it makes one wonder what is that 482 and if they are waiting for August?

Yes, and "Cul-de-sac" is said to be in the works...though why not number it AFTER "Repulsion," since "Repulsion" was released first? :?

Either way I'm totally stoked for "Repulsion," since, next to "Brewster McCloud," it's been my #1 request for release on DVD for some time now. =D>

482 is 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her. It's been languishing for long enough, it's of the same vintage as Made in U.S.A. (as opposed to Vivre se vie which is older and looks and feels very different), and there's an extra on the Made in U.S.A. DVD that also deals with 2 or 3 Things. I'm guessing they're going to announce it either tomorrow or next week (too bad there are already two blu-rays for this month, otherwise I'd guess that it'd be coming out on blu-ray as well), concurrent with a new Eclipse set. Possibly Gorin or that long-ago proposed French New Wave set?

Yes, 482 is almost certainly 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her. I suppose 484 could be Cul-de-sac though. That would make more sense.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. Once you get past Criterion's bias (i.e. fulfilling their monthly French and Japanese quotas), it's a good month. MADE IN THE USA looks like a nice release for a movie that isn't that great (everyone seems bored, and you can tell that Godard had placed Karina in his rear-view mirror by this point...and even vice versa).

I hope so if just so I can turn around and sell the Anchor Bay Polanski set for big bucks before word reaches the British

For some reason I thought that Wings of Desire was suppose to be released in July?

They can keep WINGS. I'd rather have CUL-DE-SAC or THE TENANT. Or BITTER MOON.

And, of course, it's still in keeping with Polanski's "loss of innocence over water" theme.

I'd love to see some more Polanski but I do think the line must be drawn at PIRATES and THE NINTH GATE.

My dis of WINGS is a little bit hyperbolic. I'm not the biggest Wenders fan, but I would be excited to see UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD: DIRECTOR'S CUT get a CC release.

Criterion's rather vague about when seasons end and begin.

I have a certain affinity for The Ninth Gate. I'd buy the Criterion edition of it. Ha ha.

I saw the US theatrical version when it came out (I was 12) and was bowled over. I've always wondered (and, frankly, been afraid to find out) what I'd think of it now.

The Anchor Bay set is still pretty cheap here, there are plenty available for about a tenner. I wish I knew where you can get "big bucks" for it.

Last time someone was asking about it, it was coming up as out of print on Amazon.co.uk and selling for £££££. Now I see the trend has corrected itself.

And 2 or 3 Things is now up for July. What an amazing month, especially for those of us who likes our Godard.

Reading the Coming Soon page is evidence that, despite so-called extraneous releases (single Cassavetes, blah blah) Criterion are totally ballers recently (hip hip hooray Godards + Dinner + Condition), and it could be the best year ever if there were an Andrei Rublev reissue by December, but I'm not holding my breath cause I consistently don't hear any substantial scuttlebutt about that despite stretching my ear down my chin.
