My first venture to that shipwreck of a site was today... was thinking the same thing. Either I'm just getting older or they're just get more clueless. Or both.

(Speaking of clueless (me), anybody know how to get update notices on more than the approx 10 at any given time threads that this site (criterionforum) seems to keep me up to date with?)

I hate to rain on a zing fest but, historically, they put up new releases around 5pm on the 15th unless that date is a weekend or a Monday. Brief sightings of an early live page are nothing new. I'm sure they just fiddle around with them before hand to make sure they're more or less ready for public consumption.

They're still not up on the official site, but I've added the specs to the initial post of the threads for the new titles. Danton and Last Metro are $40, and Dodes'ka-den and Il Generale della Rovere are $30. 400 Blows Blu-ray is also listed as $30.

Who-hoo! Commentaries by Insdorf and Toubiana on Metro. My sense of satisfaction with this package of features is eclipsed only by my excitement for having predicted the participants of the two(!) commentaries. I am guessing that the Toubiana/Depardieu commentary may have been ported from an existing M2K release ala the second Jules and Jim commentary?

From what I see all those titles are still listed as OOP.

The info on the reissue of the OOP titles comes from a Criterion sell sheet. It specifically mentions all four titles being back in print and available on March 10.

Sure that's not from the Janus set? I just recently saw the film and I think Quai des brumes is far better.

Now i hope Criterion will release "Dersu Uzala" (1975) soon. I have their laserdisc which is a ok print of the film and i have both Kino and the Ruscico dvd versions but all of them are not the best quality image. Lets hope Criterion can find a good print of the film!!

How about Bo Widerberg Eclipse set? A great Swedish director, only a couple of his films on DVD/VHS release.

I would assume that even if they simple put that old Laserdisc transfer on dvd it would look better than the Ruscico and its clones. I've seen a pretty decent print of "Dersu" on German TV some years ago, so there must be better materials around than the Russians have. I only fear that CC can't do it because Kino probably has exclusive rights for the US.

That's a good question... Dersu Uzala and Tarkovsky's The Stalker are the only RusCiCo titles i own.....and i did read somewhere that the original negatives to Dersu are in bad shape and needs a major restoration.

Both "Solaris" and "Ivan's Childhood" are Ruscico titles in the rest of the world, so there might be some hope.
