Re: Essential Arthouse
And maybe from DVDPlanet for 10.40 each at the next 20% sale.oldsheperd wrote:That's kind of cool that you can get stripped down versions for I would imagine 15 to 17 bucks if you look.
Oh, and the Ozu cover blows.

Re: Essential Arthouse
I'm very much looking forward to the stripped down version of Alphaville for that very reason!oldsheperd wrote:That's kind of cool that you can get stripped down versions for I would imagine 15 to 17 bucks if you look.

Re: Essential Arthouse
Is this line going to include titles that were not in the original "50 Years" box set? If so, and a title like Alphaville will become available, that's great news.justeleblanc wrote: I'm very much looking forward to the stripped down version of Alphaville for that very reason!

Re: Essential Arthouse
I believe justeleblanc is alluding to the fact that the Alphaville disc is already completely "stripped down," but costs 50% more than the Essential Arthouse releases. No, I wouldn't expect it to join this line any time soon.Tom Hagen wrote:Is this line going to include titles that were not in the original "50 Years" box set? . . . Because the existing version has no supplements. Okay, with ya. I didn't read the post as a joke because justeleblanc has had some pretty good dish about Criterion releases, so my first reaction wasn't to read tounge-in-cheek there!

There is a thread for the Essential Arthouse series, so you folks don't have to clutter up the cover art thread with this jibber jabber.

My Japanese is poor, so those who know better, please correct me. The kanji on the lower right side is not correct. The first two characters should not be separate. They should be together; like this 秋 which means autumn.KeystoneCop wrote:Let's hope that ain't final -- it'd be among the worst Criterion covers yet, which would be a shame for such a great film.
