That freaking target on Mifune's head.
I like the addition of the newspaper text, though.

It makes me think of the Kinks' song "Party Line" which is probably not Criterion's intention...

Nice, wasn't expecting the book to have the Criterion logo on the spine! Looks great.

I am wondering about ordering Viridiana from DVDPlanet, they have a pink box? Is this an old version that was later re-released with the black box? Anyways
heres the DVD Planet link to the cover. Anyone information would be appreciated.

DD/DVDPlanet sometimes puts up temp art in their listings, the pink coverart never made it to press.

Thanks, that pink box just doesnt do it for me, and I'm guessing for most males.

Most males with "football" in their screennames, perhaps.

no, he's right.
i was perfectly straight and then one day i bought the 'breakfast at tiffany's' in the pink box, and that turned me right into a big ol' queen.
buyer beware, as they say!

Ace in the Hole came with a thin double keepcase. Is this the new criterion standard? have they dropped the big thick double keepcase?

I want to say yes, I have bought The Ice Storm and Pierrot le Fou and they came in the smaller, single cases even though they are both 2 disc Criterion releases.. But two other recent films, The Last Emperor (4 Discs) and Breathless had the larger boxes.

Yes, they have. With the exception of a digipak, if a film is two-discs, it'll be in one of the slim figure-8 cases.

Thanks for the help!
Always felt it a bit clumsy when you got the dvd's on top of each other like the slim figure-8 cases. but its better for space saving.

And it is quite a beautiful way to present them, now that they've started to print artwork on the inside of the cover insert.
