For those who havent seen anything from the film, here is the opening with the sublime Debussy orchestral reworking of eric satie. It sets up the rest of the movie: introducing us to the three castaways adrift in despair... and ends just around telling the story of the first woman (and her prison escape, and sewing factory job).

I maybe completely wrong but isn't this Gaumont in France? Toni and Le Silence de la Mer were both Gaumont licences right?

You mention AE for UK rights though? Could the licence have expired or is that not possible?

This is typical of my inattentiveness but have just been casually looking through the latest Sight and Sound (about the fourth or fifth time of doing so) and noticed the "This summer" section at the bottom of the MoC advert on page 4 of the May issue talks of Vampyr, Mad Detective in cinemas and...La Vie de Jesus!

So it has been confirmed even if I didn't see it for a while! Thank you very, very much peerpee/Nick and all the MoC people - I've wanted to see this for a very long time but didn't want to order the region 1 again after getting burned the last time (I got a film on the life of some famous religious person or other )! I suppose it was a natural, as cinetwist says, because of the Masters of Cinema article on the polarising, magnificent cinema of Dumont?

Anyway, was this one of the teaser titles? (D, 1997?)

Whenabouts is MoC going to announce new titles? I'm relatively new to the line, but it seems like they don't have any sort of reliable pattern for announcements. Of course I could be dreadfully wrong.

There's no "release pattern" as far as I know but Nick did mention when this batch of films will be released:

Each of these titles will be first announced just 2 months before they hit the street and we're not releasing anything in June --- so July will be the start of the flood (hence, May will be the first announcement).

Well Histoire(s) would actually take the years 1988, 1989, 1997 and 1998, yet this is going by IMDB which may be wrong, Nick hasn't mentioned 1988 but Toutes les histoires may have premiered in 1989. It would be great if MoC released this I would definitely buy it, I really liked nearly all the episodes but found the Gaumont discs' subtitles lacking and had to rely on my meagre French to make some stuff out. The problem of course with such a project is that the films are so layered that the subtitles would be a nightmare. Of course the accompanying booklet, I'm sure, would be amazing and really exactly what is needed with such a release. Here's hoping.

I think each section was revised for the final release, so presumably there would only be one date for this final cut. The earlier releases were of the work-in-progress. I don't think those versions exist anymore, but maybe I'm misremembering.

Now that Judex and Nuits Rouge have taken spine 49/50 does this mean it is looking less likely that Sandra will be included, surely it would have been saved for spine 49 to make a Visconti trilogy a la Shindo?

Sorry - nothing. It's up to Murnau-Stiftung/Transit Films really --- ie. whether they give it the full NOSFERATU treatment. We've expressed a desire for such work to take place, but we have no further information on whether a decision has been made.
