The Mafioso art is by Keiko Kimura who did these Rialto posters. I've always been fond of her take on Masculine Feminine.

Ah, thanks for that. I knew I wasn't crazy in thinking the Rialto Marienbad and Elevator posters were by the same person. I remember seeing Kimura's name on the Marienbad poster now.Jeff wrote:The Mafioso art is by Keiko Kimura who did these Rialto posters. I've always been fond of her take on Masculine Feminine.

There is a smaller .jpg at the link that shows the cover without the blurbs. Still one of the worst covers in the collection at any rate. Almost as bad as Pink Viridiana IMO.mogwai wrote:The Mishima cover is obviously being finalized, but this is what Collider shows as being on the press release

Actually, I think they've done it recently with the blurbs written on transparent stickers slapped on the shrinkwarap. Threepenny Opera had some spiel about "Based on Bertolt Brecht's Sensational Play!" and Stranger Than Paradise had a couple of blurbs at the top.Tribe wrote:Well, that's just a preview. CC has never had a blurb on a cover before (at least not that I remember).

And I suspect the designer's day started like this:
10:31AM: Opened file WRcover.psd
10:39AM: Finished Mishima cover
Well now we know what title is going to show up in the .com forum's new thread, "Best Criterion cover to drop acid and look at"
I don't think it would be that bad if it didn't have those red and yellow heads running down the middle. You know the ones that scream "Hey get it? Mirrors, get it? Mirrors. C'mon, look, mirror-images, do you get it? Mirrors. There are mirror-images on this cover."
