Which is one reason why I _like_ MOC's exterior cover choices so much.

I agree wholeheartedly, and the color poster art will look terrific inside the clear cases and will make nice booklet covers as well.

I can only give my wholehearted consent to the beauty of these Mizoguchi covers. Keep up the good work Peerpee.

I would also like to add my preference for separate single covers of each film within a cardboard 2-pack, to allow them to better fit in with the rest of my almost complete Masters of Cinema collection. (and also to allow for proper alphabetization). During the last CD-WOW sale I could not help my self and started re buying DVD I already have. They make great gifts you know.

If it's wrong of me to fetishize over my MOCs this way, then damnit, I don't wanna be right.

One of the few great things about amazon.uk is that they are much faster than any other UK seller in delivering the goods internationally. Despatched yesterday, arrived five minutes ago : "Nosferatu", "Tabu", and Mizoguchi. And I almost swooned from just LOOKING at them. These must be the most visually impressive MoC's to date, and there's little else that would be them from other companies. It's really a difference between looking at the covers only on the screen and actually being able to see them full size back and front. Perfect choice of colours and images. And then looking at those GORGEOUS books (booklet is the wrong term here) that accompany them. Wonderful illustrations and photos, nice small size font (so each of them probably has more text than the whole 192-page Naruse book). Absolutely great work, Nick, and I haven't even read anything or put one of the discs into the player....

So, can we please have a similar-looking "Vampyr" soon

It's true that amazon.co.uk is usually faster in delivering things to my door, but play.com normally starts earlier to ship the product, so in most cases they win against amazon in the speed competition. In the case of the November MoCs this translates to shipped last Thursday from the play warehouse (Sansho/Gion) and arriving today contra shipped on Monday from amazon (Nosferatu and Tabu) and haven't arrived yet.

I like the addition of the ornaments to the MoC art style on the spine, the back and the cover headline in the Sansho/Gion release.

So, that the new MoC catalogue needs a little longer to assemble what about telling us a little bit about the near MoC future (December, January, February), Nick? I think we all are dying to know.

I'm not Nick but from what is currently known:

21st January 2008 - Der Letzte Mann & Frau Im Mond.
Feburary, March, April 2008 respectively - sets containing two Kenji Mizoguchi films each.

Or are you hoping that for further information on what will be released in the new year? I think Phantom and Vampyr have been mentioned by Nick as Spring releases, and I suspect (for no particular reason) that Die Nibelungen and La Notte may also feature in the first half of the year with a release of Blue Angel at some point in 2008 as well. Strong line up as it is...(EDIT: looks like #40 and #50 are not on the MOC catalogue page, being updated as I type?).

Anyways received this months releases, excellent stuff all round, the book included with Tabu seems especially praiseworthy for the range of articles and notes from the films production that have been included.

Just to raise a very minor point anyone have thoughts about including articles from recent books. i'm referring to Sansho Dayu & Gion Bayashi/Mizoguchi & Japan but also the lengthy passage in Silence de la Mer/American in Paris, materials readily available in print. Do you welcome the inclusion, or feel it is unnecessary?
