But Criterion has stated that they don't hold the rights.justeleblanc wrote:This isn't new news. Without giving away anything, there had been multiple sources that have confirmed the release. They are now saying April for Bottle Rocket.
And this is independent of Sony, they no longer hold the rights.
Aside from Bottle Rocket, can we start speculating what will be release in November:
- SALÃ’
- BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ
- DRUNKEN ANGEL
- LE JOUR SE LÈVE
- MY DINNER WITH ANDRE
- PIERROT LE FOU
- TWO-LANE BLACKTOP
- MISS JULIE

I heard the same thing. Though, the month of April is news to me. I didn't think they planned that far in advance.justeleblanc wrote:This isn't new news. Without giving away anything, there had been multiple sources that have confirmed the release. They are now saying April for Bottle Rocket.

I'm still holding out for the Gorin boxed set one month and Berlin Alexanderplatz for the other to round out the year.Gigi M. wrote:But Criterion has stated that they don't hold the rights.justeleblanc wrote:This isn't new news. Where on that link does it say that Bottle Rocket has gone out of print? I can't find it.dx23 wrote:Bottle Rocket has gone out of print. Maybe the biggest urban legend/Criterion wish for many could come true.

Corrected the original post. It takes you now to a OOP DVd list.kaujot wrote:Where on that link does it say that Bottle Rocket has gone out of print? I can't find it.dx23 wrote:Bottle Rocket has gone out of print. Maybe the biggest urban legend/Criterion wish for many could come true.

If both the Gorin set, Berlin Alexanderplatz, and Bottle Rocket hit the same month, I'm going to be a broke man.
Christ, I don't want Bottle Rocket in April, that's too damn long, but it would most likely sync up with the release of Darjeeling on DVD, but I'm very inpatient
justeleblanc, I hate to ask, but who are your connections?

Yeah, I think I just assumed Salo would come out in November, because December releases always sort of imply holiday gifts and pushing that particular film as a gift idea would seem to at least be in moderately poor taste.ByMarkClark.com wrote:Ah, yes. Nothing says "Happy Holidays" quite like SALO.Cinephrenic wrote:December

That would be me. They plan to do it, but it's not on the production schedule yet. I also read somewhere (forum jr. maybe?) that Drunken Angel has been postponed indefinitely.domino harvey wrote:no, and I'm pretty sure someone here emailed Criterion about White Dog and were told they owned the rights but it wasn't on the table right now.

My money's on Berlin Alexanderplatz, as they announced it in the newsletter with the rather vague "coming this fall", IIRC. Did they ever give even a rough timetable for Salo, other than stating plans to re-do it at some point?kekid wrote:I doubt if Criterion will get Berlin Alexanderplatz and Salo both this year.
I'm going to randomly speculate some more and suggest that maybe it's time for a pair of Louis Malle films, as we've been inundated with them for the past couple of years. Perhaps My Dinner with Andre and Zazie dans le metro in Nov.? Add Damage (another Malle boxset?) and criterion would be just about done with Malle's oeuvre.

When it was initially announced, we were told we'd see it in '07. Things change, obviously, but both Alexanderplatz and Salo were originally confirmed for this year.jbeall wrote:My money's on Berlin Alexanderplatz, as they announced it in the newsletter with the rather vague "coming this fall", IIRC. They mentioned it on the blog in November of last year:jbeall wrote:Did they ever give even a rough timetable for Salo, other than stating plans to re-do it at some point?
We're working on a brand new HD transfer now. It'll be a totally new release and be out in 2007.
I don't think that Damage is going to happen, but I would agree that either Zazie, Andre, or both should be on tap very soon.jbeall wrote:I'm going to randomly speculate some more and suggest that maybe it's time for a pair of Louis Malle films, as we've been inundated with them for the past couple of years. TCM will be airing a two night celebration of Louis Malle films in late October. They are scheduled to air one week before what would have been his 75th birthday. Out of the ten films that will be shown, only three have not already been released by Criterion: Black Moon, The Fire Within, and Zazie dans le métro.domino harvey wrote:I can see Zazie and Andre getting consecutive spines rather than being packaged in yet another boxed set.
