Seriously? The current La Notte disc is far from great, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the incredible L'eclisse package! There really aren't any compelling reasons I can see for necessarily watching this loose trilogy (or quadrilogy, or whatevs) in chronological order.

It sounds like he doesn't even have it yet....go NetFlix La Notte, buy L'Eclisse and live happily ever after!

Eh, whatever, there's enough great movies out there (even just in my unwatched DVD pile) for me to wait. Although I'm glad to hear seeing them in order isn't really necessary, maybe I'll just buy L'eclisse soon, since I loved L'avventura and The Passenger.

dadaistnum: i saw veronika in the cinema this spring and i think the the more yellow image on the making of, seems more like what i saw.

Fantastic news. Glad I held off on the MK2 and AE editions.

From what I remember, the sepia tinted one is more like what I saw in the cinema.

I'm a little dissapointed...I feel that Double Life is Kieslowski's worst film, lacking cohesiveness, empty plot, preposterous idea for a film...don't get me wrong I love Kieslowski - I own the Colors, Decalogue and Camera Buff - all masterpieces - Why is Criterion not releasing these? How about the extended versions of A Short Film About Love? or A Short Film About Killing? Both are examples of the heights of filmmaking in the 80's...
...and a release of White would be great as Julie Delpy was one of my earliest screen infatuations...she is definitely a Criterion worthy actress...

just saw the uk release of this and i have to agree with mental mike. without a doubt kieslowski's worst film. it feels like one of those movies that overcompensates with the cinematography to make up for what is otherwise an underdeveloped story. at least amelie didn't take itself too seriously?

im not sure if this is facetious or not, but assuming it isn't...

i'm not a huge KK fan but this one is probably my favorite almost for the lack of taking itself seriously -- in comparison with his other films i've seen.

A very generous set of extras, with, it seems to me, little overlap with other Kieslowskiana, a heavily mined seam over the last few years.

Yeah, I think Criterion is trying to tell us not to expect or wish for anything else from Kieslowski anytime soon.

Wow! Criterion trumps the trump. It looks like they've included all of the supplements from the much-lauded mk2 release and have added the Insdorf commentary and interviews with Idziak and Preisner. Idziak's comments should be especially illuminating, considering the odd filter choice.

Yeah... Criterion always put their's best tricks last. I suspect many will double dip on this one.

Amazing set of extras. Criterion never yields in surprises. One of the things that makes them the best publishers of fine films in any market. Can't wait to get a hold of this one.
