i wonder who that may be

It was about time that Universal re-released this popular film. It was ridicoulous to have it out of print. I just hope that they don't fill the extras with fluff, like they have done with other films like The Jerk, Big Lebowski and Half Baked.

You all can thank Zach Braff who will be starring in the remake for giving the studio a reason to finally re-release it.

I can't thank Zach Braff because Zach Braff is a terrible choice for Fletch. All I can do is think of Jason Lee or Ryan Reynolds and imagine what might have been....

Yes, I am ecstatic!! :D

Universal better not mess this one up but I remain cautiously optimistic. It would be nice to get a Chevy Chase commentary but hell, any kind of extras would be welcome at this point to replace my bare bones edition.

I love this movie. Watched it religiously as a kid in the early 90s after taping it off late-night TV. Like Spinal Tap, it is a goldmine of quips and has one of the greatest fantasy sequences in all of Cinema! :D

I love this movie, and I love scrubs. I think the remake could actually be worth seeing, but we all know it won't stad up to the original.

Agreed. I think that the best person to fill Chevy's shows would have been Jason Lee but sadly that casting died with Kevin Smith's version.

I'm not big on Zach Braff, but he can't be any worse than Jason Lee would have been. Thank God that one's not coming to pass!

Sounds like the Fletch remake thread will be quite entertaining though.

Well, that's a disappointing collection of extras. Where's the deleted scenes? (which do exist as stills of such have circulated on various fan sites) Once again, as they did The Big Lebowski "Special Edition," Universal has dropped the ball.

Although, I am curious to see who they got back for the retrospective featurettes.

Early review from the Home Theater Forum. It doesn't sound good. Universal drops the ball again on another "special edition". *Sigh*

I don't doubt a Fletch and Fletch Lives "Franchise" set will come along eventually. But there is nothing in this new set that I feel I need to own. Sticking with the old disc, mainly for the superior cover. A shame. A nice set with Chase commentary, deleted scenes, Ian McDonald commentary, George Wendt screen test....yeah, they really blew it.

"Come on, Universal! It's so simple! Maybe you need a DVD refresher course!"

Heh! Well said.

I mean, what's Chevy up to these days aside from a Law & Order ep. and the occasional indie film? Did he ask for too much money? Shameful. Both he and Macdonald have had nothing but good things to say about this movie so for them not to be included in any of the extras is pretty baffling.

Picked this up cheap today and the slip cover is one of those illusion thingies where you get a different picture depending on what angle you look at it. I have never seen the flick before today and now I understand Fletch, that you are not in fact from Utah and you are not a fan of Bill Clinton. I feel like my whole life has been a lie!

He's burned a lot of bridges (he's not even allowed on the SNL set anymore) and is notoriously difficult to work with, so it's possible Universal just didn't want to bother.
