One of my fave Eastwood westerns, both in terms of acting and directing. Can we expect a special edition of this anytime soon?

I think a 2 Disc SE would be fantastic. But I don't think we will see Warners revisit this film for awhile. During last years chat they said that all of the Eastwood films met his approval, and they were not planning on doing anything else with them. They have changed their minds in the past, they also mentioned in the same chat that there were no plans for Samuel Fuller's The Big Red One, and by last March they would have surely known of the reconstruction that would appear in theaters only months later, and is no about to be released. So who knows there might be a chance for an Outlaw Josie Wales SE sooner.

I would hope so. I just heard that MGM is revisiting A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More, and Warner did redo Unforgiven (then again, the transfer on the single disc was waaay too dark) If anybody owns the current Josey Wales disc could you tell me about the transfer? I could snag this for under 5.00.

I recently picked up the DVD at Walmart's bargain bin for $5.99 and was pretty happy with it. It has good anamorphic transfer and a decent "making of" documentary and a few interviews although a commentary would be nice. I think the only audio track is a Dolby 5.1 track. The original track, which I presume to be stereo, isn't available. The DD 5.1 track sounds pretty good. The only other complaint I have is that it is a snapper.

Yeah, I found it in the 5.00 bin and decided to wait, but when I went back they were out!!! Oh well, I just got a blockbuster freedom pass and finished watching it, so I got my fix. And you're right, for a clint eastwood collection snapper it's got some decent features and a good transfer! I'll make sure not to pass this one up again!

I think the transfer is excellent. The documentary is also good, because it was an old docu, and not something new made just for the DVD. I doubt Eastwood will ever do a commentary, he doesn`t have any short films, and will never show anyone any deleted scenes, so I doubt there`d be anything else possible to with this DVD.

Be careful, many of Warners keep case reissues as of late have featured terrible revisionist art work (see Night Shift).

Can anyone remind me if Pale Rider was as terrible as I remember it?

I have this custom designed box set with both Warner releases of TOJW and PR but haven't watched either since their initial releases. I remember Pale Rider being a garbage movie though. In which case I'll likey sell the set and pick up this reissue.

Now if only Warner Bros. would make their keep case version od DAY FOR NIGHT available outside of that stupid box set!!!

Do you see the picture in the listing on your website?

I'll stick with the old snappers when it comes to the Eastwood Collection. There's too many of 'em to replace, and besides, they look just fine all lined up on the shelf.

If Warner wants to do me a favor they can provide me with a keepcase version of Driving Miss Daisy.

It looks like they are going to keep the same artwork for Outlaw. The reissue of Time After Time (due on the same day) is a different story!

This is way off-topic, but since we're talking about the Eastwood Collection now... is Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can as terrible as I suspect them to be? I've been curious about them for a while, mostly because they've got great promo artwork but I have some vague memory of catching them on AMC or another channel late one afternoon and remembering them to be horrible dreck. Any comments?

I remember loving them when I was about 7- or 8-years-old. And the little kid in me still wouldn't want to entirely dismiss a couple of movies that has a monkey in what is essentially a co-starring role. But I can't imagine that they've held up over the years very well.

NO! The original cover - based on the original poster - was one of my favourite covers.

I hope that Warner isn't getting cheap and lazy when it comes to certain catalogue titles.
