Suicide Squad (David Ayer, 2016)

The Joker with the Dragon Tattoo.
I'm sure this is in earnest, and they are not trying to immediately turn this effort into a cornball parody of its era, but I think this might immediately date this movie worse than the Batusi.

Doing anything with these characters so soon after the Nolan movies is just doing itself a disservice and looks only like a desperate cash-grab.

I'm just glad that Jared Leto appears to be taking an uncharateristically low key and understated approach towards playing a role.

This looks like design by committee Joker, similar to the vegan, snapchatting Peter Parker that the executives at Sony were creating for the Amazing Spider-Man 2 sequel. I think Leto will do a good job with the character but the design is putting a damper on his thing.

It seems that the Jared Leto won't be sporting the Hot Topic look according to Moviepilot. It seems WB execs came to their senses after seeing the mostly negative reaction this photo got this past weekend.

Suicide Squad group shot from Ayer's Twitter:

Dear merciful God in Heaven, is this a real movie or some MCR fan's DeviantArt mockup?

This will be the first film where the Cosplayers look better than the real thing

Ayer has done some strong work in the past, I am really shocked by how this is shaping up and am just praying that there's a camp masterpiece on the other end of it, because that still is horrifying.

Harley Quinn seems to be the only good one IMO. Pretty sure if she nails the accent, Margot Robbie will be the highlight of the movie.

Killer Croc looks early 90s bad, like Super Mario Bros movie bad.

Deadshot was one of my favorite comic book villains, not here.

Add Leto's Juggalo, this looks awful.

This looks bad. Will Smith being Will Smith instead of Deadshot, Killer Croc looking worse than Bane from Batman & Robin, and a Hot Topic Joker. The people at Warner simply needed to watch the episode Task Force X from Justice League Unlimited to see how the Suicide Squad is supposed to be done.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Suicide Squad looks pretty good and will probably break my several years-long comic book/superhero movie hiatus.

Margot Robbie is enough to sell me on this one.

Deadshot isn't exactly the most defined personality in the DC world. A little Will Smith may make a rather blank canvas be a little more attractive to general audiences.

Not familiar with the character at all but every line delivery by Smith sounds like every line her delivered in Independence Day. It's so out of place even in just a trailer

LQ thought it was Emma Stone and I reminded her that they needed a young actress for this role, not some old head (I can't believe that Margot Robbie is a year+ younger than Emma Stone)

Also, I ran a search for this thread and came up empty before posting the link. I don't know why the search function here just straight-up doesn't work sometimes.

Not the first time a thread split has been created because of me, probably not the last. They're usually called like, "mfunk is being a bitchy cumstain" so "Suicide Squad (David Ayer, 2016)" is a nice change of pace.

Well, you should be happy to know that you dodged a bullet, because the working title of Suicide Squad was Mfunk is Being a Bitchy Cumstain.

Gross. Can we go back to being respectable in this thread and resume ogling Robbie?
