I notice it lists DVD and DVD-R. Is there a way to distinguish between the two or is it an option on all titles?

That The Weddings of King Ioan Assen (1975) Blu sounds interesting. Wondering if it's available yet or has a possible release date.

Also Osadeni dushi(1975) and A Woman at Thirty-Three (1982) on Blu-ray is visible there!

According to this webstore Blu-rays of Svatbite na Yoan Asen / The Weddings of King Ioan Assen (1975), Osadeni dushi / Doomed Souls (1975) and Edna zhena na trideset i tri / A Woman at Thirty-Three (1982) are now available.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the films?

Also, asked about those three titles and again got a response from them. The store contacted the producers who informed the store that only DVD versions of the films are available, even though Blu-rays are listed at AudioVideo - Orpheus site.

It's a pity that Knight Without Armour (Рицар без броня) isn't English-friendly as I've heard good things about it. I'll have to look into The Goat Horn.

That version of The Goat Horn appears to be in the correct AR (somewhere around 2.35:1), but sadly it's non-anamorphic widescreen. I believe it's the same transfer as the Bulgarian release from Audiovideo Orpheus (which is listed on the cover as copyright holder and distributor). I ordered mine from here - seems to be the same selection as the Bulgarian listings earlier in this thread, but with English covers.

The Goat Horn is considered by many the greatest Bulgarian film ever made, but I personally disagree. It is, however, a very well made film. There was a time when it was somewhat controversial -- and popular for all the wrong reasons -- but it has a reserved spot in the annals of Bulgarian cinema.

The Peach Thief is a fabulous film. This is the type of classic film that will be perfect for director Scorsese's World Cinema project.

Time of Violence is a very difficult film. Very bold and very well made, but it covers a period of Bulgarian history (the bloody ethnic clashes with the Turks) that remains controversial.

Kombina - a very moody romantic crime thriller with Ivan Ivanov (the Bulgarian Alain Delon). This film was quite the hit during the '80s in a number of countries in the former Soviet bloc.

Yesterday - a fantastic film about a group of friends in a popular school in Bulgaria's capital, Sofia. Probably one of the last great films to be made before the perestroika killed the local film industry. Also with a fantastic soundtrack. The best song in it is from one of the all-time greatest Bulgarian rock bands. You can hear the song in this clip (it starts at around the 1.45-minute mark):

One of my favorite Bulgarian films is Grisha Ostrovski and Todor Stoyanov's Detour (1967) a.k.a Otklonenie. Timeless love story. Also with a breathtakingly beautiful soundtrack. This song has immortalized the film:

Great question, I don't know. Also, some films do have a subtitles, some don't.

I just found that thread and it reminded me about a film called Goreshto pladne AKA Torrid Noon. I don't remember when or how I heard about it (I think it was a french text) but its been on my list for a while. Is it available on DVD? Has anyone seen this?

I have seen the excellent 1972 film. Had no idea of the 90’s version, is that available on DVD perhaps?

Can't comment on its availability (especially English-friendly versions) but I've heard mostly negative opinions on the 90s version
