I'm surprised there is no topic for this independent label, maybe because they are bring distributed by others, first by Image, them by Kino and now by Zeitgeist.
Also they seem to have established a relationship with IFC and a number of films distributed theatrically by IFC or Sundance Selects are being released on DVD by Kimstim and Zeitgeist:
Daniel Monzón's Cell 211 (2009)
Corneliu Porumboiu's Police, Adjective (2009)
The Shock Doctrine (2009)
Strangers (2007)
Daddy Longlegs (2009) - 12/13/2011
Béla Tarr's The Man from London (2007) - 1/10/2012 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<!!!!!!!
Hong Sang-soo's Night and Day (2008) - 1/10/2012

As someone who missed the last half hour (which is when everything comes together) in Pusan, figuring I could see it back in the States, and then only saw mention of one sold-out showing at home (and *no* DVDs anywhere) - I thank you from the bottom of my heart. %^D

Kimstim will be releasing the latest Bruno Dumont film on Blu Ray Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Aric on October 2.

I loved the film, but the most exciting thing about that announcement for me is that Kimstim is finally moving into Blu.

Will it be the theatrical or television version?

The press release lists the running time as 115 minutes.

The TV version and theatrical version are only a minute or two different due to the ending(s), so not clear, though I imagine it will be the theatrical version like the French Blu-ray, which was 25fps -- I assume they will pitch shift everything when converting to 24fps, given that it's a musical...

Excellent. I've been waiting for this. (Would have bought the French disc six months ago if it was English-friendly - I should just learn all the languages and then that wouldn't be a problem.)

Just got the blu-ray. The picture looks nice, but it has hard-printed subtitles. Is that typical for Kimstim?

How long was the turnaround for Jeannette or Kimstim's other films? :-k I just stumbled upon An Elephant Sitting Still and am looking forward to watching it.

I literally had to buy the disc to discover this, but the Blu-ray of An Elephant Sitting Still contains Hu Bo's short film Man in the Well, the US theatrical trailer, and an insert booklet with an essay by Aliza Ma, an interview with DP Fan Chao, and Hu Bo's short story.

That's only 4 cents per minute!
EDIT: I see they've also put out some Ruiz on Blu-ray, which we all must support. Also, The Wolf House looks great and features a couple other León and Cociña shorts as bonus features--is this the first home video release of their work? Also, I dare domino to pick up the Dumont

The Dumont is very...fascinating. I genuinely don’t know how most here would react to it, but I loved it to bits.

If you're talking about Jeannette (Kimstim's only Dumont release, I think?), I agree. It somehow combines the moral outlook and didacticism of a medieval mystery play with a pointed, searching modernist exploration of doubt in the face of evil. At the same time, the presentation combines a Bressonian simplicity and directness with a humorous eclecticism that acknowledges the absurdity of the whole situation without undercutting the ideas and emotions on display. The highlight of the film, Joan's counseling session/debate with Madame Gervais, combines all these wildly disparate elements into an unforgettable whole. There may not be anything in the back half of the film that quite measures up to this sequence, but ultimately it comes out as one of a handful of truly great cinematic professions of conflicted religious faith that the past decade has produced.

It looks like the Dumont's subsequent Joan of Arc film is "coming soon".

I
thought Wolf House was very impressive and am disappointed it's not out on blu. Though I understand, and will take whatever I can get. KimStim also has a long Zoom interview with the directors
on YouTube.
While wildly different, not a bad drenched-in-colonialism double feature with Swaef & Roels'
This Magnificent Cake (GKids/Kino).
