Metro colors are cool, the picture is lousy though. The execution is off over all.

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
Once again, I couldn't resist making more than one for the same title.

After I completed the third one, I realized it was very similar in concept to So Lightly Here's "Private Life of Henry VIII," but that wasn't intentional. SLH did a much better job of matching Laughton's head to the original artwork than I did with Tilda Swinton's head, but ideally it would be fantastic (should they ever release "Orlando" [-o< ) if Criterion could get someone to actually paint a portrait of Swinton in the style of Elizabethan art rather than just photoshopping her head onto a painting.

I have no talent for this sort of thing, but I really wish someone would post some good covers on this thread, it has so much potential.

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
There are good covers in this thread you just have to dig a couple of pages back till you find some striking ones, notable of all are Stop Making Sense's (sp?) covers.zombeaner wrote:I have no talent for this sort of thing, but I really wish someone would post some good covers on this thread, it has so much potential.

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
I like your cover, hidaniel: if Criterion were to do this film, it could quite conceivably look like this. It's far superior to Sony's floating-heads artwork.

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
No way would they release that film without slapping either Bill Murray's face or name on the cover.

Great Groundhog Day cover. Love it.
Re: Ship_Destroyer - very lovely covers. Infinitely better than swimminghorses/so lightly here. BTW - has SLH been banned? If only...

It's a good cover, but reminds me of The Shop on Main Street cover.ship_destroyer wrote:![]()

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
Your covers are very nice, ship_destroyer. Very simple but yet, artistically very well done. I like Springfield Rifle a little less, but the two others, especially Paranoid Park, are really good (maybe just a better contrast on Il Grido).

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
I like the Torch Singer cover, but though I appreciate the attempt, the title font gets to looking too messy for a classy/classic-looking cover.
And the director credits look wrong, a little too high up and too hard to read, and kind of a clunky font to boot. I was thinking of maybe having the credits reverse the cover colors; that is, black on the left hand tan background, switching to tan on the right hand black background. It would replicate the long black glove on the tan left and the skin color on the right hand black side.

Thank you for caring enough to comment. That said, I tried to alternate the colors like you said, but it made it look really messy.

Re: Fake Criterion Covers
jordof131, I'm not sure whether this is the right choice of still, but I very much like the playfulness of the cover.

Love the Wild Things cover (especially the "The Max Collection" bit).
