It was released on VHS by Fox, but I thought the rights reverted back to Producers Sales Organization/Mark Damon. It's a miracle that it's coming out on Blu Ray, as rights complications have hindered its availability for years.

It seems one of the most desirable commodities after the apocalypse is not only guns and food but lithe hottie Peggy Shannon - a former Ziegfeld gal once proposed to replace Clara Bow! She's carried near naked, twice, saved but only to return looking better than ever - and eventually realizing her prospects have become limited in the aftermath of fewer men than she would appreciate.

That would be nice. But why doesn't someone do a big fancy edition of Hope and Glory, for fuck's sake? Who owns it in the US, do you know? Don't really know why that film isn't more beloved on this forum. I mean yeah, it has basically no content, and Boorman, tho I love him, isn't in the league of filmmakers whose more trifling films are still considered 'works of genius'. But it still has the best script, by far, he's ever filmed, great human observation, great absurdo-natural acting style from everyone, Ian Bannen, and is one of the most wonderful film experiences I've had. Hmmph.

Ask Twilight Time about Hope & Glory on Facebook. They're the ones who are most likely to issue it, and they've already put out Zardoz on Blu-Ray.

I will, thanks! And I think Twilight Time putting it out would paradoxically make it more likely for the film to be put out by Criterion or someone, thus fulfilling my ultimate Hope and Glory agenda, if I understand how these things work.

Anatahan is releasing April 25 - way sooner then I'd expected. Details at Blu-ray's website. This, along with the Executioner, was one of a handful of hyper-obscure (or rather hard to find?) titles that the TSPDT list turned me on to a few years back when I first started filling holes in it; it's thoroughly odd to me to see these titles finally be given full and proper releases.

^Loretta Young (doing her Swedish thing) and Joseph Cotten are so good in this warm, lovely film. I recommend it wholeheartedly, and I'm thrilled it's showing up (on blu, I'm assuming).
