i've said it before, and i'll say it again...A balls out Night of the Hunter 2 disc set would easily take the greatest use of a spine # for me....one of my favorite films of all time.


What i really came in to ask, however, was that i dvr'd Korda's The Drum w/ Sabu a few weeks back on TCM and just started it and was surprised to see the Janus logo beforehand. Is there some kind of British Empire set in the works or something? A Sabu Eclipse set would rock!

One of mine too. I practically never double-dip (hell, I barely buy DVDs at at all these days come to think of it), but this is one readily-available film that NONE of us would object to seeing a Criterion release of. Just look at the fake Criterion art thread, seems half the mock-ups are for Hunter.

They aired this a few months back too. I thought the print looked pretty crummy- the colors were really worn. I didn't see it this most recent time. Did it look OK? I'm not sure why I'm even asking as I'm not a huge fan of this kind of film, but yeah, a British Imperialism Eclipse seems inevitable with The Jungle Book and some of those other Korda films in the pipeline. I wish Criterion would stop wasting their time with this stuff and just get on with actual Indian films but I suppose these are cheap and easy to release, but are these endless Kordas big sellers? I'm open to all types of cinema from all eras, but does anyone under the age of 70 really care about these films?

And yes, before anyone brings it up, of course I love The Thief of Bagdad. Who doesn't?

Has anyone asked about the possibility of seeing THE TRIAL (Orson Welles) released by Criterion? If nobody did, could someone please ask them and post the reply here? I would really appreciate it. The Trial deserves Criterion treatment, being Orson Welles' greatest movie!

NOW I re-finished it for this disc (don't worry, no CGI or fancy stuff) and I like it- I never did before- but now I do."

Extremely unlikely. Kino only released it on DVD in the US in 2007.

I just received a reply from Mulvaney, no "immediate" plan for The Quiet Man. But the Blu-ray packaging exchange will start in early October.
