CHE was delayed for a very good reason.

link to SubUrbia confirmation? I was beginning to worry that it was never going to happen after all.ianungstad wrote:On the Warner deal : We don't usually announce or talk about deals, and as far as we can tell, most of the buzz about this one started on various forums, not from anything we said. We'd love to have a working relationship with Warner, but at the moment there is no such thing as "the Warner deal." Once there is, and there are actual titles to announce, you can be sure we'll let you know.
I find that amusing considering Kirsten re-confirmed SubUrbia less than an hour ago! They probably don't want further leaks and risk pissing Warners off.
i actually netflixed that a few weeks back and wasn't sure what to do with it. very good film, but left me and the wife looking at each other with kind of "huh?" looks on our faces. Ends up in that "glad I saw it...no need to see it again" category.Brian C wrote:Have there been any rumors about a Criterion release of THE PAWNBROKER? Seems like a likely candidate if they're working on a Lumet. It's more well known than widely seen, it's only been released in R1 (as far as I can tell) in a bare-bones release, and a Criterion partner (Lionsgate) apparently now owns the rights.
I've had to pay much more for much less from less of a looker than La Connelly...so a good deal no matter how you look at it. :-"oldsheperd wrote:I don't know why anyone would cry because Requiem is five bucks. It's well worth it to see Jennifer Connelly do a DP scene with another woman on a dildo.
There, how's that for realigning the conversation.
Which is ...?Flike wrote:CHE was delayed for a very good reason.
Big one. Looking forward to it. Much Hulot hooplah in NYC this fall, theatrical retro, etc., so we'll probably follow that run, which will take many months to play out.
Is there any truth to the rumor that you guys are bringing the long-lost Bill Forsyth movie Housekeeping to DVD?
Criterion: No truth, but we'll take it as a recommedation. Thanks!
I asked about that. They said nothing "at this time," which isn't a definitive no like their response to the DICK TRACY question. So, in the words of Lloyd Christmas, "you're telling me there's a chance. YEAH!"Mr Finch wrote:Personally bummed that they won't touch The Insider.
They never formally announced them (as in an actual release date). They were Newsletter hints.Antoine Doinel wrote:some Facebook person wrote:What is the progress of those movies you announced oh so long ago. Thanks, guys. It's not a matter of cash, it's time. You all are already doing plenty to support our work by being good customers. We just can't seem to get stuff out fast enough to keep everyone happy. Rivette's overdue. We know. We really do. And we want you to be happy. But if we spend all day answering suggestions for Celine and Julie, L'Amour Fou and Out 1, we'll never get anything done!
I just now found out this is based on a novel by Daniel Woodrell...the Raymond Chandler of the Ozarks!bradass wrote:It looks like a director's cut of Ang Lee's Ride with the Devil is screening at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. I wasn't aware that an alternate cut of the film even existed. Could this be in advance of an upcoming Criterion release - the Ang Lee title that's been suggested?

Warner's license expired and they apparently chose not to renew it. Someone has to keep a DVD of the film in print, so why not Criterion?jmj713 wrote:By the way, why is Stagecoach coming. Warner's 2-disc release was fine, I thought,

Criterion will probably use that restoration (Warner did not), but it was completed in 1996.GringoTex wrote:New UCLA restoration.
Though if they use that US title, I think I'll throw up.Cinephrenic wrote:L'enfance nue (1968)Criterion wrote:some more Pialat is on tap, starting with his first film, but not in the schedule yet
