Fred Willard
A sad loss for comedy. He never failed at getting a laugh out of me, with Best in Show ranking among one of the funniest performances I've seen.

This is almost too much at once. Willard was the peak of his generation of character actors who gave such warm performances
God, and now I scroll up and see this terrible news. He and Martin Mull were so effortlessly funny on
Fernwood 2Nite, what a great loss

Film critic and L.A. Times columnist
Jack Mathews. Probably best known for writing The Battle For Brazil both in book form and presenting the documentary on the behind the scenes struggles on the making of Terry Gilliam's film on the Criterion edition of the film.

I think he even topped that in
A Mighty Wind. I literally considered him to be the funniest person alive (since the loss of Phil Hartman, who will always be the #1 of all time). I watch his
"Mancierge" sketches from Tim & Eric all the time and they never fail to crack me up. He could even make
an informercial for FedEx hilarious. And of course, his Criterion connection in
This Is Spinal Tap is one of the many highlights of that film.
Around 12 years ago, I saw an uncharacteristic entry in his career at a midnight "Weird Wednesday" screening at the Alamo Drafthouse:
Chesty Anderson U.S. Navy (1976), where in a seemingly bizarre piece of casting, he plays a non-comedic role as the hunky male love-interest. I went for the Willard, and it also ended up being the film that introduced me to the wonder of Timothy Carey.

Also if anyone else is a fan of Gardener's World I am sure that you already know that Monty Don's dog
Nigel has passed on.

When "#RIPNigel" started trending on Twitter, I predicted accurately that posts using that hashtag would divide more or less evenly into three categories:
1. People who knew Nigel was a dog expressing commiserations;
2. People hoping that it was a different Nigel expressing disappointment;
3. People who weren't happy about group 2 expressing outrage.

For being two relatively minor roles I wouldn't have thought the same guy who played Cookie in
Mulholland Drive was the guy who blew away Tony Montana in
Scarface

I have a horrible feeling that Nigel Farrage would feel complimented by being referred to as "The Golden Retriever"!

Actor and former WWE wrestler
Shad Gaspard, who drowned rescuing his son from a riptide. By all accounts, Gaspard was just about the nicest person in wrestling and a devoted family man. I’ve heard nothing but kind words and genuine sorrow since he went missing on Sunday.

For a second, I thought he died a while ago, but then I realized it was someone who played another one of George's bosses in later seasons.
Also, had no idea he was in
All the President's Men, and given the role, it may have been a very quick on-screen appearance.

I imagine you’re thinking of Daniel von Bargen, who played Kruger (and was an effective villain in Clive Barker’s Lord of Illusions)

Well they had to find the one actor who could believably destroy the universe to fill the shoes of a man resistant to that incredible “jerk store” punchline
