Well My Dinner With Andre and Zazie dans le Metro have both been confirmed as forthcoming, so another Malle set or even double-release wouldn't be out of question before year's end.

But that's sort of been on the horizon for quite some time, hasn't it? After that slew of Bunuel Mexican films that screened on TCM maybe a year ago with new prints I think everyone was aware that it's just a matter of time. I saw your posting, but it didn't seem that anything appeared immiment.

Shit, now I have to go back and look for it and make sure.

A box set of those will indeed be reason for celebration.

Holy. Shit. The news about Days of Heaven is absolutely wonderful! This, quite possibly, may be the release of the year for me.

Shouldn't there be a newsletter for this month by now?

Without question, this would be among my all-time favorite Criterion boxes. I am salivating just at the thought of it. "I want the finest Mexican Bunuels known to man, and I want them now!"

That's a definite. But I hope they don't waste their wacky clue on Mala Noche.

Broke my heart to see something we knew already clued in.

They have been on such a good run this year, I was expecting an other insane surprise.

To be fair, they've probably had that clue ready for a while. Narshty's detective work only delivered the news of Two-Lane Blacktop three weeks ago. I imagine they expected their clue to be a surprise when they created it. They can't always be two steps ahead of us.

So will TLB be a November title then?

Is Steve Buscemi handing in a top ten a hint at a future title with his involvement? Usually the top tens are from people that have appeared in some capacity on Criterion releases.

Trees Lounge would indeed be a welcome addition. What's the current DVD status on that one?

He produced Symbiopsychotaxiplasm Take 2 1/2 and is featured in the film itself. He is also interviewed for the disc. And he's in Armageddon. That's "some capacity" for sure. Perhaps one of his directorial efforts will be in the collection sometime, but he's already in the collection as an actor and producer.

They'll have a backlog of these top tens for their newsletter, so I'm not sure it hints at Buscemi working with them at the moment, but it's the first I've been interested to read since Nicolas Roeg's.

preemptive mention of The Cars That Ate Paris, My Mother the Car complete series set, Pixar's Cars, Used Cars, Dude Where's My Car?, Car Wash, Car 54 Where Are You? to prevent any more attempts

This is not a definitive answer, searching the empty recesses of my brain to come up with it...

Original Pioneer DVD with Buscemi commentary and widescreen presentation is long out of print.

P&S Lions Gate version with no commentary is generally available.

I have the original Pioneer and cherish it. Would love to see Criterion do a spit shine on it and release it right next to "In the Soup."

Ah, ok, that would definitely answer my question - I didn't realize he was a producer on that film so he definitely probably worked with Criterion on that release hence his list.

Is there any way to access older top ten lists by contributors in the CC newsletters?

The only thing I know of is via Criterion's MySpace account, which has an archived list of all the newsletters here.
