Ivan Koloff, professional Wrestler. The article reveals that George "The Animal" Steele also passed. Two wrestlers I grew up watching back in the day when the WWE was called the WWWF.

The passing of Ivan is pretty sad for me as I knew him. He lived like 10 minutes away from my house and he was an incredible sweet guy, very different from the persona he played in the wrestling business. I'm sad too that WWE didn't induct him into their Hall of Fame while he was alive.

I had seen that Ivan was ill recently, so this isn't a surprise.

I had read about his WWWF career (and his beating Sammartino) but I knew him more from his time in the NWA in the mid to late '70's. He really did have a great act, playing up the Lenin look and toting around the hammer and sickle flag.

Ugh...Clyde Stubblefield.

I've seen him a few times in the 90s, and he was always charming. With Al Jarreau, it's been a tough few days. Two childhood favorites.

Seijun Suzuki is dead and the Taisho trilogy still needs a restored blu ray edition, arrow criterion eureka do it please, it's a real shame since the one from kino (out of print) is awful

I think the Japanese Blu-Rays are "restored" -- albeit not English subbed.

Sad news. I've been hoping that the Film Foundation or one of the labels would rescue and restore The Ogre of Athens
