I hope we really don't need it. It somewhat destroys the otherwise beautiful composition of the cover (and no-one knows that film as "Head against the wall" anyway). So I hope this is not the final version of the cover.

Just checked the specs for Sunrise, and now the booklet has 68 pages. Is this definitive? Also, i'm happy the combo won't be a regular thing, a BD and 2xdvd seems overkill IMO.

I like that "Großherzog" cover art! Is that from an original poster or was it a lobby card or some other advertisement?

Now I'm keen to learn about the details of this edition. Any chance we might get that much-praised Kalat commentary for "Großherzog" that the Kino disc has?

Wow - both absolutely gorgeous covers, though I hope the font will be changed on the first one (kind of jars with the beautiful, creepy image), and I'm not sure about this '+' business.

The typography is based on the original poster.

Tommaso, yes the Kalat commentary will feature on our GROßHERZOGS.

Thanks Nick, you just made my day!
Divisa disc already in my 'to-be-put-onto-ebay' box.

I'd change the font on the Phantom cover as well - it doesn't really fit with the (very nice) image.

Nick, will there be any December releases this year or are Mankind and Soul Power going to be the last 2009 titles?

We think that's it for 2009. Had to let a few things slip into 2010.

I can't understand the problems with the font. But I understand the problem with the "+". A "&" might fit better, now it looks like a videogame where you have to use the "+" to shoot something through the big O in "Phantom" (imho).

I actually quite like the font and the '+', though perhaps it looks a little bit too modern for a film like "Phantom", which actually is set in a rather backward-looking small-town society. It might have been better suited to some of Lang's or Epstein's visual extravagancies (and too bad we don't seem to get the Epstein disc(s) this year), but that "Phantom" cover looks great, and after all I really care much more for the booklet than the cover anyway...

Beautiful, but doesn't really capture the film. If I'd never seen it though, I'd pick that up off the shelf in a heartbeat

I agree with domino, but that is a seriously great image (and now I've got Purcell running through my head).

I guess it could be explained by the fact that they often use the poster as a cover, but this time it was way better to use a still.

Yeah, that is a seriously ugly painting for sure. I agree that-- beyond the bland metaphor of water = sex, and the lead character sailing the seas of rebellious sex-- in terms of tone and aesthetic, the image couldn't be further from capturing anything of the essence of this wall-shaking film. But it looks nice nonetheless.

They're both great, but the first one is sublime.
