Could that be the set-up for Juliet of the Spirits to come back as a UHD

At the very least an individual BD release for Juliet, following in the footsteps of other Fellini set titles to get their individual releases upgraded. (Also, it is Spine #149, not #119)

Brakhage - makes me wonder if they'll let the DVD of V1 eventually go OOP as well, and either rely solely on the BD V1/2 set or re-issue the DVDs as a combined set.

I would assume that they'll just let the first volume go OOP when they sell off the remaining stock and just keep the Blu-ray collection as the only version available. (Can't imagine that there is much of a DVD market left for this set. Probably not much of a Blu-ray market either, as they've already repackaged it in a plastic case and dropped the MSRP by $10or $20)

I went to the Barnes and Noble site to check their price on the Essential Jacques Demy box, but I only found this listing for a product to be released on 8/2. Is this the next combo set to go Blu-only? It's still listed as available (and dual-format) on Criterion's site.

Pierrot le fou is being taken off the streaming service this month. Does that mean that the recent Bluray is going to go out of print too?

I just got the service for the first time a few months ago, so I wasn't sure how it worked. So they don't have 100% of their hard-copy titles up on the streaming service. Alright. Thanks.

I was concerned mostly because of their history with Godard titles (Le mépris, Une femme est une femme). Do we ever know when a film is going out of print before they announce it?

Not really, stuff that is going OOP just goes OOP. I think the only reason the massive batch of StudioCanal titles that went OOP about 15 years ago was announced was because they had a lot of stock they wanted to sell before they lost the rights and had to destroy the remaining copies.

As for the Channel, the Janus stuff is mostly up permanently, but the other titles are up on a limited basis.

Going Fine' have all gone OOP. I'm assuming that Soderbergh is going to be releasing his boxset sometime soon.

The Blu-ray edition of Red River is listed as "currently unavailable" on the Criterion store, and the page no longer mentions anything about the Borden Chase novel. I'm wondering (hoping) this means it's being redesigned for Scanavo packaging without the book.

I suspect you are correct and they are dropping the novel. I assume their rights to include it have expired or the cost of continuing to include it outweigh any potential sales.

Too bad, as the inclusion of the novel was a pretty big extra since it had been OOP.

I'm pretty sure that Pasolini's 'Mamma Roma' on DVD has gone now. It's one of the last of the beautiful big-box Criterion releases to go.
The film is going to be available in the remastered Bluray boxset so it's on the DVD to go. Teorema is still available on single Bluray and DVD release.

Besides the standalone of Mamma Roma, they lost three titles from Buena Vista/Disney: the two Michael Bay films (Armageddon and the Rock) and Chasing Amy. I think these have been on the chopping block for a while, but now it's official.

*Number of titles that appear on Criterion's website if you use the Out of Print filter. This does not mean there are 127 OOP titles, as many of the titles are just films that can't be bought outside a set (Samurai Trilogy, Moral Tales, etc).

That's somewhat concerning? Warner not have domestic rights anymore? All the other Warner titles appear to be still in print.

It says Out of Print, not unavailable, so I think it's gone. Every copy has disappeared from the second hand market, so it looks like we are fashionably late to this party

Princess Bride was listed as OOP not unavailable before its upgrade too, but yeah it's not the norm

Well, let's hope it's a case of that then! They do have a few other Truffaut holdings they haven't released, I could see them doing a big box set of all their holdings ala Fellini and finally upgrading the Doinel box (which is years upon years overdue), perhaps together or as twin releases

That was my thought too, though I also expected them to wait 'til KL lost their Truffaut catalog, and it seems like some titles are still on their way out over there. Then again, Criterion doesn't care much about being too comprehensive lately

I'm pretty sure KL picked up more Truffaut titles in the interim (only to bury some of them in a set of their own), so either they were outbid or Criterion didn't want them
