I guess "end of the week" (or "start of the week") trumps "15th of the month" when it comes to announcements.
i still think that most times its been on the 15th. except in cases like last time this was brought up, that a sale was ending that day and they most likely didn't want to have the new preorders for sale too.
another occasion is when they are trying to get a bigger than usual amount of releases together and aren't quite ready to announce since they are still determining what they can release in that 3 month time period and what needs to be pushed to the next month.
that being said i think tomorrow we'll see a pretty good size amount of releases (especially considering last months meager amount/relatively humdrum releases).
my guess is def. wings of desire (overdue) and cronos for sure.
plus maybe a surprise or two....
please note this is pure speculation (and a little bit of hope

This is still the forum, and they
are, still, The Criterion Collection.....(insert mission statement here).

Actually, hasn't the schedule been screwy for three or four months now? Last month's got posted at around midnight EST while the previous month's were a day or two late? I think they're lashing out.
Edit: Just noticed, looking through the predictions, this fall doesn't have the big prestige that everyone can agree upon (see: Vampyr, Pandora's Box). Hopefully we get a pleasant surprise in Shanghai Express but... yeah.

Yes, my life has officially ended. Criterion's production schedule hasn't lived up to
any of our expectations.

Sepuku, now, with a Boken! Tora...Tora...Tora...(btw). That might be hint dropping.

Is Paris, Texas likely to be announced soon, I thought I heard it was paired with Wings of Desire.

They have the rights to
Wings of Desire,
Paris Texas, and
Alice in the Cities, but
Wings is the only one that was specifically mentioned for this fall. The others may be released at the same time (
Paris being more likely as a paired release because it's from the same period as
Wings) or Criterion may plan to spread their Wenders cache out over a year or more. I guess we'll know soon enough.

everything you want. Eventually.

The forum hasn't quite
Birthed Their Nation yet. But the "pipeline" shall, soon............ :-"

From Seconds message board on imdb:
The Paramount DVD is OOP because Criterion has purchased the rights. So you can expect a nice bonus filled DVD early next year at the earliest. There has been nothing about it on the schedule for later this year unfortunately
Frankenheimer's Seconds would make a perfect companion to Repulsion, both very chilling, eerie and gorgeous.

NO WAY!

That's the best news I've heard in a long time! I hope that the commentary by Frankenheimer will be part of the CC edition.

Seconds coming from Criterion (if only next year) -

this is fantastic news
edit: on second thought, this is from the imdb. Better wait until this is confirmed from reliable sources.

And don't forget about Visconti's Senso, which was confirmed by Mulvaney last year as a 2009 release.

For Seconds, they should include an interview with Brian Wilson about how he stepped in the theater right when they said "Hello Mr. Wilson".
He thought it was a threat from Phil Spector.

Good news on Seconds if this is true. It's the imdb and all so I'll take it with a gran of salt. Was the only extra on the Paramount disc the commentary by Frankenheimer? I wonder now about Targets if this could be coming our way.

I don't know if this is common knowledge or not yet, but it looks like Andrei Rublev is going out of print. I work for a small music store and that title is now a 'One Way' on our distributors website... meaning we can order anything they have in stock, but will be unable to return it because it has been or is being deleted. For a point of reference, the only other Criterion "one ways" are the out of print titles.
There's my $.02. Speculate away.

A re-issue with anything less than three discs would be a disgrace-- truly one of the most impressive films ever made. A miracle that it ever got made, really.

How about an Andrei Rublev re-issue paired with another Tarkovsky film. Seriously, any Tarkovsky film will do. [-o<

Kino has licensed
Mirror,
Stalker, and
The Sacrifice, and Criterion has repeatedly said that it does not have the rights to
Nostalghia, so . . .

Maybe they'll surprise us all and wrangle The Steamroller and the Violin from Facets.
