In terms of dealing with CVM, MoC would probably have better luck convincing them to disinter their grandmothers for use on a parade float.

Two responses -
a. There is no "workprint" of Raumlichtkunst. Also, as a three-projector HD black box immersive installation some 32+ feet wide, it is obviously not designed to be seen on DVD.

b. CVM met with Criterion some years ago. The DVD deal offered by their representative was so unbelievably, terribly bad. Thus CVM produced its own Fischinger DVD.

I caught up with this and side with those who find it a disappointment. I am sympathetic to those who find the film has a lot in common with some of Nolan's biggest films (a focus on set-up that eclipses the followthrough-- I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing with Nolan's films, though), but I also thought the earthbound portions of the film are far more interesting-- the espionage by the 5 Rich People Who Rule the World is a natural progression from Spione, and Lang has some fun with these plans. But when you look at the running time and realize there's less than an hour left and they still haven't landed on the fucking moon, like, come on. I also think this project was doomed from the start because it's fully dipped in the lamer flavors of pulp sci-fi (as highlighted baldly by the Nick Carter-type comics) and I could not possibly have groaned louder when the stowaway appeared. It just goes to show that hoary stuff like this has always been bad! It seems to me that Lang had little interest in possible adventures on the moon and ultimately there was no reason it needed to be so high concept at all. All of the action could have taken place on a deserted island and been functionally the same film. Indeed, it struck me that the ship design (one of the few interesting elements here) anticipates rocket travel as disseminating from submarine technology, which makes the outer space necessity even less convincing. I will admit that since the film is so lopsided with set-up, the movie feels shorter than the three hours it is, but I'm not sure that's such a compliment regardless...
