Isn’t is shot on 16mm reversal stock? Would seem to not be a great candidate for UHD.

Why wait for what will likely be more expensive? Isn’t UHD region free? I’m surprised Arrow didn’t get this.

I suppose it might be expensive already to make importing it prohibitive. Also, while UHDs are without region locking, there's no guarantee all 3 cuts and extras will be included on UHDs, while the accompanying BDs will likely be locked.

Also I’m not an expert but aren’t they using the dupe negative for Martin? So the source will surely have limitations.

Anyway, very positive from Second Sight & I’ll be supporting them by buying these releases.

Loved their work, in terms of PQ and packaging, on When a Stranger Calls and Changeling.

It’s a dupe negative because there is no negative (because it’s shot on 16mm reversal stock).

Out of curiosity, is the color timing on the Yutkevich Cut generally considered acceptable? The color seems pretty different...and I don't recall too much discussion about this.

Second Sight seem to gamble on the bigger or major cult titles, don't they? Creepshow, Scanners, The Brood, Re-animator, the first Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Even with that, Dawn and Martin are stupendous announcements. Good luck to them with the restoration job.

Most likely another extras upgrade package similar to Take Shelter, albeit hopefully with some fresh interviews from the key faces (I'd especially love to see Gleeson/Farrell/Fiennes shine some light on this one).

Great stuff. That leaves From Beyond the Grave the only portmanteau horror unaccounted for on blu, doesn't it?

I've got the overseas versions of those two Amicus films, will need to compare features. I remember the Severin Asylum being pretty loaded but I think my German House That Dripped Blood was barebones.

Hoping for Mad Dog Morgan at some point. SS have released good editions of Australian genre films before. I wonder if the recent Umbrella restoration will be picked up in the UK.

Someone on BR.com also pointed out there's a listing for the recent sci-fi film Upgrade on Amazon with a November release date: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Upgrade-Blu-ra ... B07W47BSVF

They're currently having a flash sale on their new site. Ends September 10 at 10 AM BST.

I picked up The Changeling and Possession so far. Seems like it makes more sense to order 2 at a time for US orders as shipping jumps from 3.14 to over 10 (because it requires tracked) when you have 4 titles.

Svet is at it again. He gave video/audio/extras a rave review but overall, he gave the release 3.5. Why? Apparently, In Bruges is a poor attempt at the formula Guy Ritchie created with Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.

Did he even watch the film?

I suspect this film will struggle to entertain:

(a) people who are utterly humourless;
(b) people whose native language isn't English.

Combine the two, and... well, it's no surprise.

As with Withnail & I, the joy of In Bruges is in its virtuoso use of language - like Bruce Robinson, Martin McDonagh has an uncanny knack of picking exactly the right word or phrase, both to serve the narrative and to trigger an involuntary belly laugh - the fact that Atanasov thinks it's just "random lines" reveals how totally he's missed the essential comedic point. And of course anyone even vaguely familiar with McDonagh's career will know that he's far from "inexperienced" - he'd written at least six highly acclaimed plays (and notched up two Tony nominations) prior to making the film.

His issues seem that he mostly expected, well, another type of movie.
It's actually quite ironic, I guess, because he keeps on saying how the movie is cliched while simultaneously expecting exactly the kind of movies he's already seen. In the end, he seemed to have missed the bitter-sweet melancholic drama tht underlies the whole movie, instead expecting in vain a pop comedy like Snatch or a pulpier gangster movie like Layer Cake.
I'm not a English native speaker either, and that never prevented me enjoying the hell out of In Bruges.

Not to mention Ritchie's movies are ensemble casts and In Bruges has like 6 people in it.

Hilarious that Martin McDonagh is being compared to Guy Ritchie. Only a BR.com review would be so foolish.
