Traditionally dog years are a multiplier of seven.

Now it's time to guess the second film from this double clue.

So the one time I don't get a clue it's one that involves math.

Surely, we can all agree that a dog that is 315 in people years would probably be ill and sore.

I was thinking it was a clue for a film made 45 years ago, which would be 1971, so it could be STRAW DOGS, which would play off the dog in the cartoon. Clearly I was overthinking things.

No, that's definitely for both seasons of Documentary Now!

Part wishful thinking, but could this be the rumoured Dogme box. Dog Days? The Celebration?

Wait. Was Dog Days a Dogme film? I'm typing this on my iPod waiting for my little girl to fall asleep, so I don't know much of anything right now.

more Lars Von Trier on blu-ray would be really appreciated... [-o< Especially
Dogville (I've grabbed

a HDTV broadcast, even a 720p is a huge improvement over the SD French DVD...) and the bonus of the French DVD were awesome (the "loft" interviews series, etc...)
"
Straw Dogs" is perhaps my favorite Sam Peckinpah movie with... "Getaway". I've always been a huge fan of Dustin Hoffman (I'm still by the way waiting for Straight Time on blu-ray (I'd like to get a job interview with such a lovely Theresa Russell

like in this movie). I own the double-DVD Criterion release and was disappointed when they lost the rights.
I've bought the US MGM release and the transfer is not a wow-wow- but it's pretty good transfer. But we lost all Criterion bonus.

Well, it was my actual guess, too, just not a very good one.
And, honestly, how much better am I expecting transfers of those films to be?

I think it's a Dogme 95 set. Because if Criterion googled "dog years" like I did, the first result back at the very top states that 15 human years equals one dog year. 315/15 = 21 years, which is how long it's been since the Dogme 95 manifesto was released.

Actually, now I think it's a clue for Sexy Beast, because I'm reading these guesses and going "No! Nonononononononononono!".

7 dog years = 1 human year.
315/7 = 45
15 years is more accurate today, but generally, it use to be 7 years and the artist probably is going by this rule.

One of my dogs is 12 years. Does that make him 180 in human terms then? He swims every day and can outstrip most other dogs. Maybe I should eat his kibbles?

According to the cited Google blurb, 15 is only the conversion rate for the first yearof a dog's life. The second year of a dog's life is equal to another 9 human years, and each year after is approximately 5 human years, though the exact rate varies with the size of the dog. 7 years it is!
(actually that is kind of interesting, but the overall ratio would be around 7)
For the clue, I thought I was on to something with the Ides of March (3/15), and was just digging in to the dog's presence when I saw the answers, and then did the same math faux pas swo did ...

I'd love for it to be a double clue for the Dogme 95 box....the restoration of the films were premiered last year in Denmark for the 20th anniversary. Of course there's the added speculation of what could be included, but I would have thought that Janus would have picked up & distributed at least one of the restorations (ie. The Idiots, particularly because it was censored in its original, limited US release) before we got a Criterion release.
