The crown could stand for Jörg Buttgereit's Der Todesking.

Yes, I'm afraid this will be it.What A Disgrace wrote:The crown could stand for Jörg Buttgereit's Der Todesking.
I hope for Stephen King too though (Misery, Cujo, IT [complete TV version], The Running Man, The Shining).
And above all, I would love a glorious 4K transfer of King Kong (1976)!
But that's not gonna happen!

Ah, I see. Guess it's in a similar position to Manhunter and Near Dark then. That's a shame...dwk wrote:Dino De Laurentiis's De Laurentiis Entertainment Group produced Maximum Overdrive and all that catalog is owned by StudioCanal

Interesting that Henri-Georges Clouzot's Inferno is coming out in the US, since the Flicker Alley release is still in print as far as I can tell.

Maybe it is a misprint and is actually referring to Chabrol's?

So, it looks like that Arrow Academy clue was for Magnificent Doll rather than Angel at My Table. It would have been a perfect clue for the latter.

It seems Basket Case was the "special" US announcement. I'm in for it, and maybe Der Todesking. I will probably get most of the Academy titles, and Scalpel, when they're on sale.

Well I'll purchase Henri-Georges Clouzot's Inferno and maybe A Woman's Life is the extras are an improvement of the Kino Release.

The golden rule with Arrow clues is that if the answer seems obvious, it’s probably wrong.DeprongMori wrote:So, it looks like that Arrow Academy clue was for Magnificent Doll rather than Angel at My Table. It would have been a perfect clue for the latter.
I still have very fond memories of people assuming that a sign reading “Round-Up” referred to Miklós Jancsó, instead of a Texas town (as in Terror in...) - if it really had been the Jancsó, would they have been quite that blatant?

Still not sure how it was supposed to be a perfect clue for the Campion...

The halo of bright red hair, suggestion of wispy white wings, and a dinner napkin?swo17 wrote:Still not sure how it was supposed to be a perfect clue for the Campion...
As both a nod to the subject of the film -- Janet Frame, who had a brilliant corona of bright red hair like the doll -- and to the title by both the suggestion of wings and the grasping of a dinner napkin, it's about as direct a clue as one might have expected.
There's even a shot of a young Janet Frame in the film that resembles the doll, though with a grubbier face.
But then again, as MichaelB notes, Arrow clues are notoriously awful. They recently posted a picture of a bulldog with sergeant strips as a clue for Doberman Cop.

Anyway, Der Todeksing was a great surprise. Arrow certainly listen to the fans, after their impressive editions of Butthereit’s Necromantik films. What A Disgrace wrote:I have my fingers crossed for Creepshow. I think that's the Stephen King penned title I most want, and as I recall the Second Sight edition is out of print, so its got a shot.
I wonder what’s happening with Creepshow in the UK. I had assumed Second Sight would release it in a black case, as a regular edition, like they did after Re-animator sold out. But nothing. And no one else so far has picked it up and given a release.
Certainly would love to see Arrow release Creepshow.

Re: Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conject
From the latest set of forthcoming releases, including those for new films, it looks as if Arrow is going down the BluRay only route and is ceasing dual format or separate DVD releases.

No? Both of February's LE sets are dual format.

Re: Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conject
Maybe just the single film releases are going to BluRay only then, but, as this includes a new film (A Woman's Life), this seems a slightly odd decision as it may well have a market outside of collectors and the users of forums like this.

Re: Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conject
I believe that Second Sight licensed it from Universal, whose rights to the film (from what I understand - someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) subsequently expired and went over to Paramount when the latter took control of the Republic Pictures library for the UK. Hence Second Sight had to delete their disc as their deal with Universal no longer stood, and whoever wants to release the film now has to go through Paramount.M Sanderson wrote:I wonder what’s happening with Creepshow in the UK. Thanks for the helpful information. Who, from the good UK boutique labels, is likely to licence from Paramount?

Off the top of my head, the only one that’s dealt with Paramount is Eureka.

Creepshow would be an amazing Masters of Cinema release - assuming Romero passes Eureka's occasionally daffy standards for what a "Master of Cinema" is.

I doubt he would, for the same reason Arrow's Romeros aren't Academy.

...although I can absolutely see Night of the Living Dead qualifying for the main MoC line-up, although there’s obviously no point doing it.
